0% progress after Windows Memory diagnostic ran for about 12 hours

My settings included Extended Testing and Cache Off. Also 4 passes.

I don't have any specific reasons for this test, but more of a general checkup.

My DIY desktop is based on an ASUS ROG X670e with an AMD 7900 CPU and 64 MB of Micron RAM at 5200 MT/sec (IIRC on the RAM )

Use Memtest86+ disc to check system memory's (RAM's) for errors.

Applications that test the RAM inside Windows don't have access to the whole range because some parts of the RAM are locked by other applications. The tester waits for the other application to unlock that part in order to test it but if the other application never gets the message or is stuck, then it will wait forever. I would download the MemTest ISO, use Rufus to create a bootable USB flash drive (or burn to a CD if you have a CD-RW or DVD-RW drive) and boot from there to test the RAM. Also Sergei Strelect WinPE is an ISO which boots in Windows 10 or 11 environment and has a lot of diagnostic tools, It also includes the option to boot in MemTest outside Windows.




PS: If your RAM is faulty, you will see a red line with the faulty address range. Most likely the screen will start filling with such red lines. To find out which module is faulty, you must test them one by one separately in the same slot. If they all pass, then some other slot is faulty. You must put one module in each slot in turn to find out. Then replace the faulty module or don't use the faulty slot. Been there done that. If your system is under Warranty, just return to the shop and let the Service find and replace the faulty RAM or motherboard.
