Sure don’t mean 2.5 Gbps ?

Yes that it. Not a lot out there at a reasonable price.
Yeah, Not familiar using one. But why do you need one anyway just to upgrade to Gigabit speed internet ?

I switched over to 2.5 Gbps on the home network and I'm thrilled at the difference it makes. I copy large amounts of data between computers, so this really makes a difference.

NOTE: If you use spinning platter HDDs the difference won't be as noticable since they are a bottleneck, although it will still help a bit. The biggest gain is when copying between systems using either SATA or NVMe SSDs.

Yeah, they are far more expensive. I put one on my christmas list to my wife and I'm 90% sure she bought it, I will know tomorrow. I went for the TrendNet Teg-S380. Think it was around $150.

At my house, my wife and I sit in the same room and both of your machines have a mobo with a 2.5Gbps card. i mainly got it to transfer files fast between our machines. We both play the same games, and I like to download it once and then copy it across the network, so this will help in that respect.

One more note: If you are simply looking for an inexpensive way to get 2.5 Gbps between two machines (two machines only), simply install a 2.5 Gbps Ethernet adapter in both machines (you can get them for around $25 last time I checked, and many new systems come with it already on MB), then just plug in an Ethernet cable between the two machines, no switch needed.

For my setup - 2 switches are needed. Cat from the modem to first switch(2.5) (my computer. NAS) then out down the hall to the living room. Switch #2 Cat. into my sons room. Cat to wifi point(router). Walls in this apt. play havoc on wifi to the phones and other devices.
