I like the EarTrumpet for controlling volume on an individual per-app basis. Pretty neat.

My fave is InternetOff, one click to turn off/on the net connect, as well as password protection, scheduling, etc. I can turn the net off when I'm gone for a while & turn it back on when I get back. I don't have to shut the router off. That's just me, hate to leave the connection on if I'm not using it,
