Winget GUI is the same, offering 24.06 but you get 24.05. That is the 64bit version

Why would anyone download 7zip from Softpedia vs getting it from the source(7-zip.org) or even Sourceforge?

    I'm a computer enthusiast so have quite a few systems that I run. More like an advanced hobby.
7-Zip site just now sent 24.05. The 7-Zip people sent an update to Softpedia before they got around to updating the 7-Zip site, apparently.
7z2405-x64.exe is what I get from the site at the x64 Download link.

"Anyone" would download it from Softpedia because it was made available there before it was made available on the 7-Zip.org site.

@pseymour Yep. That was it. Emptied the Chrome cache and went back to 7-Zip.org and it was updated.

Problem was I (atypically) went to bed last night without running CCleaner in Custom Clean mode, and this morning (just now) I found my Chrome cache had 580MB of files in it. Thanks.

If you go to the Download page on 7-zip.org you will see all the versions available as hyperlinks. If you simply hover over the hyperlink you can see the available file that will be downloaded. Currently the 32 bit version is showing 2406.

Bama, I know all that. I just had a cached copy of 7-Zip.org and didn't know it. Soon as I emptied my cache, the link to the site gave me the new page. I thought it was strange that Softpedia had it before the site had it, but I was mistaken about the whole thing. :(

Very good , using it instead of WinRAR , uninstalled WinRAR , 7-Zip is best...........!
Only ; it does not remember inserted passwords , WinRAR does.
The contextmenu of WinRAR is very complex , it shows up on unwanted folders/files.........
