Solved Accessing Linux WSL mounted disk from within WINDOWS - solvedHi

Hi folks
Have a lot of media files on Linux disks (formatted XFS) but if I'm on Windows I just want to access these without either booting into Linux or starting up a full blown VM

Easy enough done

Assuming your disks are already mounted in the WSL as physical disks on some directory then in File explorer on windows browse to \\wsl$\

Then you can see your mounted drive and access it

it helps to create a specific directory in the wsl for your disk e.g /mnt/DV0



If these are media files then VLC etc will play them without a problem !! saves logging on to a Linux machine if I'm on a Windows laptop and can't be bothered with setting up a Virtual machine. !!!

added --and you can r un some GUI programs too - Wayland stuff now working as well as X11

One limitation seems to be that you can't make the initial allocation of the WSL disk space bigger than default although I'm sure some Windows Gurus here will find a way -- maybe @z3r010 !!!!!

Now I have to do some proper (paid work) now - but this is much more fun !!!!!
