Accidentaly Turned on Pause Update. Can't Turn off.


Addressing the stuck downloading problem - FORCE stop the windows update service
Open cmd as administrator and run the following commands. You can copy and paste them into cmd line. Wait for each to complete.

taskkill /F /FI "SERVICES eq wuauserv"
net stop cryptSvc
net stop bits
net stop msiserver
Ren C:\\Windows\\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
Ren C:\\Windows\\System32\\catroot2 Catroot2.old
net start wuauserv
net start cryptSvc
net start bits
net start msiserver

reboot your computer and run Windows Update
again to check whether you can install Windows updates successfully

If the above solution I gave does not fix the problem, you may have file corruption.
Run DISM and System File Checker tools that will check for and fix any corrupted files.

Steps:
1. Run Command Prompt as administrator.
2. Type the command DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth and hit Enter to continue.
It may take several minutes for the command operation to be completed.
3. After that, input the command sfc /scannow and hit Enter to continue. It may also take several
minutes to complete the scanning process.
After finishing, exit the command line window.
