Phone Add or Remove "Send to My Phone" Context Menu in Windows 11

Phone_Link_banner.webp

This tutorial will show you how to add or remove the "Send to My Phone" context menu item for your account or all users in Windows 11.

Starting with Windows 11 build 22631.4541 (23H2) and build 22631.4534 (24H2), you can share content to an Android device using the Send to My Phone context menu in File Explorer and on the desktop.

The feature requires you to pair your Android device to your Windows PC using the Link to Windows app on your Android device and Phone Link on your PC.

If you don't want the "Send to My Phone" item in the context menu for your linked phone, you can remove it without having to uninstall the Phone Link app.

Starting with Windows 11 build 26220.7271 (Dev and Beta 25H2), Microsoft is making a few refinements to the context menu aimed at reducing the space taken by less commonly used actions, while keeping them easy to access. Microsoft is also updated the ordering of actions to group similar tasks. Microsoft moved Send to My Phone next to the cloud provider options.

The options in this tutorial to remove the "Send to My Phone" context menu have a side effect for files of disabling the modern context menu with Show more options and use the old context menu afterwards.

Adding the "Send to My Phone" context menu will restore the modern context menu.

Not here. Files on my local drive that aren't being synced don't give me the context option either.

EDIT: Possibly because I use Open Shell? If so it isn't that big of a deal. I'm not removing Open Shell just to find out.
My files are stored locally and also synced but the Send to phone option isn't there, only on non-synced folders
If I use 'Share' on a synced folder, I get a share link rather than the file itself, even though the file is local 🤔

File is not just local, it's synced to OneDrive, and as the file is in OD folder and is synced, it defaults to OD share prompt instead, where it generates URL. If you want to share file included in OneDrive folder into your phone, you need to quit OneDrive, so it won't overwrite default share behavior.
