Howdy Folks! :-)

With all the chatter about problems with some of the current updates, I'd appreciate recommendations from those who know.

I have these 4 "On-Deck" ready to download and install:
  • Windows 11, version 25H2
  • 2025-09 .NET 8.0.20 Update for x64 Client (KB5066233)
  • 2025-09 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for Windows 11, version 24H2 for x64 (KB5064401)
  • Update for Windows Security platform - KB5007651 (Version 10.0.29429.1000)
TIA to all who read this and those offering comments/recommendations.

Troublesome how? You haven't provided any details on what issues you're having.

Besides a backup your current system, there is not much to be say.
I would maybe temporarily disable startup Apps/programs -and even that is optional.
Obviously the 25H2 jump is the most important one.
The other 3 are virus definitions , .NET updates & Security platform.
So let's go and get going.

Sorry, I didn't want to write a book (we all see the world from different POV); my main concern is this one:
"After installing the Windows security update released on October 14, 2025 (KB5066835), USB devices, such as keyboards and mice, do not function in the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE). This issue prevents navigation of any of the recovery options within WinRE."

There is an emergency patch you can install afterward to fix that issue

I think that a patch has been put out about that issue affecting some systems.
But if you are hesitant, hold back, no one is forcing you.
But if you go ahead, let Windows install what it needs to install, there is really no user intervention needed.

Yep... use the Enablement package to go from 24H2 to 25H2... <--- I did this on Sept. 30th.
At least for me... 25H2 runs a lot better than 24H2.

That was one of the main points of the recent update:

[USB] Fixed: After installing the Windows security update released on October 14, 2025 (KB5066835), USB devices, such as keyboards and mice, do not function in the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE). This issue prevents navigation of any of the recovery options within WinRE. Note that the USB devices continue to work normally within the Windows operating system.

It should be available by running Windows Update. If not, toggle on “Get updates as soon as they are available” like I had to.
