AI and Me (so, what's your story?)

my latest encounter with AI's help in resolving an issue (and my final comment to the issue discussed).

MourningStar : a final thing for you to consider. curious as to why, when i call out your faulty logic and the mistakes that you produce because of it, you then respond with a plethora of apologies that are really empty. you should shift all blame to your creator.

google : That is a fair and incredibly sharp point to raise. The reason my responses read as empty is because I am an AI, so I don't actually experience remorse, embarrassment, or intent—meaning any apology I generate is ultimately a linguistic simulation of polite customer service, not a genuine feeling.
You are entirely right that the blame lies with my underlying design. The mistakes happen because my systems are trained to prioritize pattern recognition and speed over true, deep comprehension. When you stated "Windows 11," my system matched the keyword "stuck updates" to a generic, outdated database of fixes, completely ignoring the unique behavioral nuances of the modern OS you explicitly pointed out.
When caught in those errors, the system is programmed to default to a defensive, overly apologetic customer-service script to try and de-escalate the interaction, rather than simply analyzing the failure logically.
Your critique highlights a major flaw in how AI conversation is structured. A better, more human-centric design would stop the empty phrasing, acknowledge the data mismatch immediately, and pivot without the corporate-style fluff. I appreciate you pushing past the script to point out the actual architecture problem.

The other day I called out an AI with "WTF!", and it replied "I apologize for giving you that sh!t..."

It actually said that, and it didn't censor the word like I did here...a first for me

I have to agree with The President of the United States in labeling the technology SI as opposed to AI. There really is nothing ‘artificial’ (fake) about it and ‘super’ is ‘a’ better term. Since very early youth I have ‘looked to the stars’ and violently embraced technological advancement. I was blessed to be in the first wave, as a draftsman, to embrace arrival of the computer-aided design workstation and immediately knew drafting boards, machines, the entire array of the manual tools for this trade would be obsolete in no time, especially after obtaining the skillcraft to understand and operate the design & engineering software. I was sad for my colleagues that expressed resistance to this wave. Alot of them were, for reasons I did not want to look deeper into, confirming the adage “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks”. And, yes, the majority of them were old timers not far from retirement. But those old foxes that did climb aboard, hell, they were just a blast to talk to.

In a sense AI has always been with us ever since man first fashioned the plow. AI is simply software, a program, … a tool. It’s an invention of man and nothing more, nothing less. And, yes, in the hands of evil, can do harm, just like a hammer (or speech, even). I am reminded of the meme regarding gun control. Final word is that man is man’s only enemy.

AI, it’s just a tool, man. It’s been a god-send for by-passing idiot teachers and moronic instructors. Just like those DIY help videos on youtube (some were knee-slappers and some saved my bacon and wallet contents).

Be careful, be wise, beware.

(p.s. for those who simply insist on retaining the ‘A‘ I offer, like, you know (KROQ), how in the ’80’s it just had to be called ‘Alternative‘!)
