Solved Alert! TPM service not detected

I have my info in the My Computer link. It's a Dell Inspiron 3501 11th gen i5 with Intel Iris Xe. Came originally with Win 10.
Sorry yeah, should have looked, and nothing else under security?

That's the weird thing. There is nothing else under Security. Just data wipe on next boot.
Also under device manager should there be a device security section? When looking around it sounded like that's where the TPM is but mine does not show any.

Weird, yeah there’s a security section in Device Manager, or should be with the TPM info

Tried resetting the bios to default?
Personally I avoid pin numbers or any of this new Microsoft login stuff and stick to passwords which is no more time consuming than using a pin.

I have not yet. Tbh I don't know how to downgrade it, never had to before. I have a local account but I set up both a PIN and password when I set it up with a Microsoft account (forced of course). I think that since TPM and obviously some other things (Windows Hello) have disappeared it refuses the pin now so a password is the only option. Attached what device manager shows. Also what Windows Security shows....no standard hardware security.

D@mn, that screenshot is some serious stuff, huh? Just so you know you've tried everything, do what @The-Hive suggested if you have a backup and what @clam1952 advised. If neither of those suggestions work, as bad as I hate to do it because it's going to cause you some misery, I suggest you start the arduous process with getting help from Dell. From experience, I will tell you it's not fun. Also, from experience, if you don't DEMAND to speak to a technical specialist early on in the process you will spend days going in circles to get to someone who knows anything. I wish you luck in getting a good one. Please let us know what the outcome is if it comes to that.

Oh great....um well now it's saying once I click continue that my PIN can't be used and to set up a new one.

I had this happen when bringing my computer out of Sleep. Forget how I got around it (never set up a new PIN/Password) but eventually found this setting under Account>Sign-in options. It defaults to When PC wakes from sleep. I set it to Never and can bring my computer out of sleep without the issue. Probably nothing to do with your issue, just thought I'd throw it out there.

Yeah sadly. I've been turning it off every night since it boots up very fast. Still currently trying to find how to downgrade...Dell only lists 1.9 for Bios driver downloads. Edit: Found older versions now. I'll try 1.7 at the oldest.

It rolled back to 1.7 but nothing changed. Security doesn't show TPM and still can't use a pin either. I could try a restore from Macrium Reflect? I have some images stored on an external harddrive.

Currently attempting restore from the external drive.
I successfully restored it. Seems not much has changed....the cpu sure was being used a lot and the fan running on high. I'll leave it off for a few minutes before I start looking around more.

I don't know if I should be concerned or not but now Dell is trying to update my firmware. I didn't tell it to but yeah...I mean before it did that I went again into its settings and security is still very empty. I really don't think it ever had an option to turn TPM on or off there so who knows if it really had it in the first place.....but they have a lower spec ver of the one I have that came out this year that literally comes with windows 11 so...Ok......it did the firmware update and seems to be turned off now?? Ok turned it back on its set to 1.8 now and once again no TPM warning and PIN is still broken.

I can't find anything on this Dell 0XGX0C motherboard if it even has the chip in it or not. It does support everything if it does have TPM.
What the hell? So my Inspiron model is apparently compatible according to this site here These are all the PCs that can be upgraded to Windows 11 It's in the eligible tab..... Also have a look at this article Trusted Platform Module (TPM) Frequently Asked Questions for Windows 11 | Dell US Is my laptops TPM broken then? I just got it 2 weeks ago and is still a recent model, definitely not older than 2015. I found there is some setup thing for TPM? but the path the article lists it gives me an error.

I may just have to call up Dell tomorrow. I mean, at least they should be able to know more information on the motherboard and if it is TPM or TPM 2 compatible and how to actually install the software for it to show up...Why was it not there in the first place.

Wait. I'm confused. You say you got it a few weeks ago but then say not older than 2015. Is this not a new laptop? If it has a 11th gen cpu it would have to be recent.

I mentioned that since the article claims that TPM should be on all of their products that are made from 2015 to present. So, the motherboard should have some kind of TPM in it they've been doing this for years now.

Having read the links you gave in your last post, I think we might have a clue what made TPM disappear. In Post 13 you said "my drive was encrypted with BitLocker when I first set up the computer which I decrypted and disabled."
In that Dell article it says "
You may encounter a situation where the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0 option is missing from the BIOS setup screen, the Security option, or that there is no TPM present when running the Trusted Platform Module Microsoft management console (TPM.msc) in Windows.
This issue may become apparent as the result of a BitLocker recovery message"

That said, know that you are not alone. Re: Dell Inspiron 15 3501: "Alert! TPM device is not detected"
Be sure and click on the solution to that post. I think you are smart to have decided to call Dell.

Huh strange, also on that note I do have only Windows Home so I guess when I mean by BitLocker I mean there was some sort of encryption option that was automatically enabled which I decrypted and disabled. I did this not long after installing 11 which was the same day I got the computer. If that was it, I don't really know why it took several weeks for it to start complaining. I think I've exhausted most of what I can do on my end that I know. At least I've narrowed it now down to something being just completely missing for TPM.

Apparently I can do some things through PowerShell...this doesn't look very promising.

Well after some turns of events this saga may have to wait until Thursday to hopefully be resolved. I feel a bit feverish so I better rest up before I call. So unless I feel a lot better tomorrow, this may take a few days.

According to Dell I may need the motherboard replaced theyre willing to replace it for free. That or ask the ones I bought it from if I would be able to do an exchange for a new one or not for free. I don't really know if this is seriously the only option or not. She didn't look around that much.

I'm about ready to try to attempt a full reset. I assume anything that went missing may come back after a reset.

Currently doing a reset. I assume this will prove its a software or hardware issue. So far still seeing that dang TPM service issue as it goes though the process. On the blue screen now. Hopefully its resetting things now.
Well....it reset to windows 11 and not 10...Funny thing, my PIN works now but the TPM issue is still a thing and I have no way of going back to 10. I don't think this reset made it go back fully to factory settings.

Yeah, I thought that might be the result after I read all those Dell posts about the same issue. Seems like that was Dell's answer to them so it may be an issue Dell already knows about. The first thing they do when you complain is pull it up in their database to see if others with your model have the same issue. If they see that they do, the techs won't spend a whole lot of time troubleshooting it further. If that proves to be the case, you're fortunate it happened sooner rather than later.

I even went to the security processor section which I think I couldnt get to last time? It's swearing my computer does not support it but I'm sure thats bs. Hopefully if I can swap this one for a new one it may resolve the problem. I just don't want this same issue again.

Sadly, no. The Inspiron Bios looks at least for me very barren and doesnt have any fancy expandable areas with more options under each category. Security is just, security and only has one option showing which isn't tpm. There is no advanced configuration setting.

These are the only options I have in bios. Sorry it came out unclear the options are: boot configuration, integrated devices, storage, display, security, passwords, update recovery, system management, preboot behavior, and system logs.
Also ironically when I searched for TPM in the search bar this result came up but it leads to nowhere but that's accurate. Something did kill it off.
