All I can tell you is that I read my own telemetry and there is absolutely no personal data being sent to Microsoft. All I see is OS and app performance and usage. How many of you are actually looking at your own telemetry data stream?

I've a had a serious look at the telemetry in my desktop PC a number of times. Never seen anything scary in there that is being sent to MS. I've even taken the time to read some of the extensive documentation about Windows telemetry.

Swedish police can ask MS for it too, yes. (Edit, i forgot to be clear, they do need an court order, and the penalty for the suspected crime has to be 2 years in jail)
That is why is bad. What happens in those countries you isn't allowed free speech, and you have an opinion.. then that land can just ask MS for the keys to the computers they collect.
This is why end-to-end encryption has to be.. Some cloud services has that function and as they then dont have access to the content, they cant hand out keys/content even if a court order is provided.
This is why it is so big discussions about VPN services and no log policy.. as then no information can be handed over as no information is available.

In New Zealand where I live the Police would need a court order from a Judge to make the search warrant legal. For MS to then disobey would be breaking the law.

The pros with Firefox is you can kill all telemetry in about:config and it wont turn on again after an update.
I have just started to look in to Waterfox, that is a privacy minded fork of firefox, but not as extreme harden as Librewolf, as that one actually can have problem with some websites.. and also Librewolf do not have a sign installer.

I forgot to be clear, so i edit my most.. Yes a court order is needed and the penalty for the suspected crime has to be 2 year in jail for them to get one.

You forgot 99% of all modern Linux distributions do not have telemetry. Not even as opt in.
exception of all 300+ of them is Ubuntu that has an opt in option.. and also Zorin that has a opt in one.
Those levels of telemetry they collect if you opt in can be compared with Windows XP.

Not in settings or in GPO, but you can stop it two ways.. One way without breaking EULA is with a pi-hole and block all domains that is used for telemetry.
The other way is to modify things in windows, but that is not allowed according to EULA
