AMD or Intel for my new build...


I had some money saved up back in July 2024, Then i made decision did i want another Intel Build or AMD build. Choose AMD build, latest Gen i could afford at the time

Lian Li LanCool 216 ARGB Case
MSI Pro B650 VC WIfi
Ryzen 7 7700X
Radeon 7800XT OC 16GB
Kingston 1TB NVMe boot drive (may upgrade later on to one with Dram cache, and faster PCie 4.0 drive) with Heatsink if i do upgrade it, then might add 2nd M.2 for 2nd slot for the Games. Leaning towards Samsung Pcie 4.0 NVMe 980 Pro 2TB and 990 Pro 1TB (Boot drive) Amazon doesn't have Samsung 990 Evo Plus version or maybe i'd consider that as the Boot drive.
Samsung 860 Evo 1TB Sata SSD For Games currently (already owned that)
and bought a Windows 11 Pro License to go with this system

Overall very very happy in performance, cooling and such

Current PC is as shown in the system specs on this forum. For my new build I plan to move the SSDs and 3080 Ti until I can upgrade those parts as well.
The way it's going everything will be available at once anyway!

Sounds good then, always good in my opinion to have everything available at once and can get it all situated from the start.

(I used to have my WD Black 4TB Internal, but this build i left that drive External in enclosure)

First time ever i'll be all M.2 and 1 Sata SSD

I cannot get over the price of some of these boards. I saw the GTX 4090 was going to be like $2k. And $1k motherboards now, what in tarnation. Not sure what these boards offer for these kinds of prices, but I'm going to intentionally keep myself in the dark so that I don't know.

Of course availability and pricings will be 2 things to keep an eye on after it launches, but the 3rd factor is how long it will take before it actually runs stable so, I would think that it's still going to be a bit of a gamble then, and, if you're shelling out that much cash, I suggest to wait at least until the fog clears up in that regard. Also keep in mind that this could potentially take a lot longer than you originally had envisioned.

If you want an X870E board, there seem to be lots of models available. Just not the "Godlike", yet. What is that thing expected to cost? The lesser "Carbon" is $500 at Newegg.
