Hello, I'm Chris thanks for having me on the ElevenForum. I have an HP Envy X360 15m-bq121dx with AMD Ryzen 5 2500U and AMD Radeon Vega 8 graphics with 32 gigabytes of ram & Windows 11 pro on this particular machine running same installation version as below.

Why does the driver not install proper for the Graphics? Any ideas? I DDU first then install the driver & restart & its not installed and it freezes up a lot & the driver crashes. Yet I cannot change the resolution. I'll post more screenshots of the Device Manager etc.

Thanks

You may need to get drivers from HP, if they have customized the device ID of the graphics controller. I don't know that they've done that, but it wouldn't be very unusual on a laptop.

I hope that the Windows 10 drivers will work, as HP appears to not support 11 on this laptop. (I presume that you did an unsupported installation as the 2500U appears to not be a supported CPU.)

If you want to make a hobby of modifying the standard AMD drivers, you may find useful information at LaptopVideo2Go Forums

Thanks for the reply. So far I installed the windows update driver & it worked but I wanted the adrenalin software suite so I had to install an older driver 22.3.1 amd drivers. Now every so often I get a total system freeze up. It happens every 10min or so. While watching a YouTube video the audio hangs when it freezes & you know how that sounds? Horrible. I think my 2500u mPGA pins have a cold solder joint on one of the pins from overheating. I think I need to replace the motherboard or bake 2500u on the board in the oven preheat 350f, 15min at 350f and done let cool and done.

Hmm... so you can install the AMD drivers.

The 22.5.1 Windows 10 drivers (date 10 May 2022) won't work for you?

I suggest only baking a motherboard that you're prepared to replace.

AMD drivers for notebooks are a PITA if you install drivers directly from AMD. I have an HP laptop with same AMD APU and had to revert back to the lighter drivers that update via WU only on that machine.. The AMD control panel software is different to the one that downloads directly from AMD.

My suggestion (same as @bobkn ) would be to download an older driver from click here, remove the driver you have installed, install the older driver then let Windows Update maintain it.

For some reason 22.5.1 wouldn't install but 22.3.1 is installed now without issue. I also just replaced my screen & hooked up the touch screen & it seems to be working really good. I'll try 22.5.1 again since my replaced my screen & touch screen is hooked up.

I ran the 22.5.1 again and repaired it & it worked this time. Gonna restart & see if it installed correctly.

I narrowed it down to the PCI Express Root Port. Looks like an old out of date driver.
