Please, can anyone help? I'm looking to send a file, an MP4 file, to a friend, but I don't want them to copy this file and send it to someone else. I know that, in Google Drive share options, you can just give them a link, and it plays the file, but they are not able to copy it. I have downloaded M Anti-copy software, but when I try and run it, I get an error. (Shown here). Can anyone help me in this? All the other software companies that have this kind of app charge $900 or send you a USB stick that prevents copying of the material on it.

Controls like this are only ever in a system or service you control. If someone can play/open/read a file they have unrestricted access to also make copies. Read/copy are basically the same action.

Unless I'm totally misunderstanding the purpose of this tool, it sounds like it's used to prevent someone from copying files from your computer.

"M File Anti-Copy is an application that can ensure the security of your computer by preventing the copying of your files and folders. The program comes with an easy-to-use interface in which you can activate an anti-copy protocol for specified or all files, folders, drives and file types.When you want to activate anti-copy for specific drives, folders and files, you can either create an inclusion or exclusion list."

Once you send this MP4 file to someone, he or she can do whatever they want with it.

Or am I totally misunderstanding this?

If you send someone a video file, he or she can do whatever he or she wants with it.

For pictures and photos that you have on your website, there ways you can make them copy proof. That means anyone who likes them won’t be able to copy and save them.

I’d say that you’re wasting your time. They could just record what the PC hears with software like Audacity. So all they have to do is play the music which you have provided.

If you want to send it to just one person and doesn't want anyone else to have it, you can create a password-protected self-extracting archive. Give it an extension like jpg or doc to prevent your email being flagged for having a virus or malware.

Let your friend know the password, maybe thru WhatsApp. To extract the video, he or she needs to change the extension back to exe and then key in the password. No password no accessibility.

If that 'anyone' can see the picture om his screen, he can make a screenshot of it. And if is able to enlarge the picture on the screen, he can make multiple screenshots and put them together in a photo-editing app.

There's no way to avoid people copying pictures/photos that are published on the Internet or (for instance) in a pdf document. It's just that the qualtity of the copied item often will not be as good as the original.

Yes, that’s is what we can do and nothing else.

The idea is to reduce the quality of the pictures to deter people from copying them.

It is definitely not screenshot proof.
