Solved Antivirus and remote support

Hello! Yesterday a friend of mine asked for my help to install and activate Kaspersky Internet Security. To save me the trouble going at his house I connected to his computer remotely with TeamViewer. I managed to download and install Kaspersky Internet Security in a few minutes, but I could not activate the license no matter what. After an hour of uninstalling, reinstalling and other attempts to activate the license I gave up because it was late. Today I visited him, uninstalled Kaspersky again, restarted and installed it. It activated the license in seconds! I discovered that Kaspersky blocked activation and any modification to the application because I was connected remotely and thought I was an intruder! I wasn't even allowed to type the activation code or click any buttons! I am not sure if this happens to other brands as well, but to save you the trouble, do not try to install and activate Kaspersky remotely. Unfortunately this only can be done locally. As soon as a remote connection is detected Kaspersky blocks any modification to the application making it impossible even to guide the remote user to do it.

Well, at least, do not try to install using TeamViewer lol. This probably holds true for other methods, as well, but you never know, for example, Remote Desktop may work.

I am not sure for RDP or AnyDesk, but I bet neither would work.

I had the same problem awhile back & found that using "Quick Assist" worked when "Team Viewer" would not ! Not sure why !

At least now we know. Next time TeamViewer fails we will try another application such as AnyDesk

This is a good thing! Do you want TeamViewer to just do everything you want, even when it is identifying a security breach?

Did you have Admin access to your friend's computer?

My friend computer was running Windows 7 with an Administrator account and UAC switched off, so there is no restriction on the Windows side. I was blocked by Kaspersky. On another thread a poster had issues with his keyboard because he had enabled some key press protection in Kaspersky! Once he disabled this protection, problem solved.
