Hi folks
I (after a long think) decided to upgrade my old S21 Ultra Samsung phone for the S26 Ultra - especially as there were some really good trade in offers.

The feature that encouraged me above all else to upgrade (nothing particularly specific is newer on the latest phone apart from it runs faster, can use e-sims and has more base memory) is the privacy feature which means anybody not looking directly at the screen can't see it as it's not visible from sideways view. Great if you are using these things on public transport or in offices with people always wandering around.

My query is -- surely a similar type of application ought to be incorporated into Windows or even the device's firmware so it's OS agnostic. Nothing worse than when you are busy and someone comes up in an office and looks at your screen !!!!.

Cheers
jimbo

I can't say I've ever heard of an app that can handle this. Privacy screens filter or funnel the direction light is emitted from the screen. Light emits in all directions to light only emitting at a 90 degree angle.

Use a physical privacy screen, dim your display and/or sit with a wall to your back and be aware of your surroundings

I looked it up and the S36 ultra uses a differnt type of pixel for the privacy view so it's not an app. As far as I can find out it's not possible to achieve with an app you have to use a privacy screen.

The Samsung privacy screen is done by hardware (new screen type), not software. So no, nothing in Windows can replicate it.

There are privacy screens you can stick onto the glass. They only seem to fit iPhones because fanbois are more paranoid than the rest of us!
