Back in Windows 8, I used Stardock's Start8 and it was great. For a couple of buck I can upgrade it to Start11. Do any of you use it, and if so, are there any real advantages? I certainly don't want anything that will mess up Windows 11 touchy start and taskbar.

Try it, it won't hose up your Windows, personally I'd say it has more polish than Start11Back but less functionality. I've tried both and settled on the latter

I tried it and didn't like it. I'm not keen on the current Windows 11 menu but found it better than trying to make it look like something else.

I'm used to Win11 start menu and actually like it. It's the taskbar that is lacking and I thought Start11 might help.

My Start11Back is set to use the stock 11 start menu, it gives the taskbar as you say more functionality

I like StartAllBack but have tried Start11 (kind of slim on functionality) and Open Shell (not as polished as the other two). All of them give you the task bar functions (Quick Launch, etc.). Try Open Shell first. It's free and see if it does the trick for you.

Have a look at ExplorerPatcher, that can give you the Win10 taskbar back easy to delete if you don't like it.
One thing about OpenShell is you can have both start buttons
