Anyone know why when I put my USB from Android phone to Win11 I cannot get the files to show up in Explorer? I used to do this for ages, i use to be able to take files from my phone and put them on my computer using USB cable. it stopped showing the usb connection in windows. Used to pop right up.. something got porked? all those apps were never needed to do this.. clarification, I only want to get the files off the phone, I do not want the other features like mirroing the phone and such.. I can do that... I want to see and use explorer for the files of the phone in Win11... it used to work great..

I've noticed of late I have to be patient when I plug my phone into the PC as it will take a while now for it to show up in explorer. Why, I have no idea and sometimes it shows up in odd places like above the This PC.

Make sure you tap your connected usb notification and choose file transfer on your actual phone.

Also, you can use quick share to transfer files over bluetooth.

I don't know if this holds true for all Android phones, but for my Samsung I need to install a driver on my PC that allows the phone to be seen as a mass storage device by Windows.

Samsung simply calls this "Samsung USB Driver for Samsung Mobile Phones".

yes... of course I have it,, it still worked right long ago.. long before I ever put a driver in , can't figure out why it changed, am going to try the win10 computer in a while, wife is using it, and see if it still works correctly.. i guess people don't understand,, in explorer when you plug in a device, it should show up as a device like the drivers do, but instead should show as a phone and it should have the full menu of files... for the phones.. and I would just copy and past or add or del as I pleased... now, now phone... of course the stupid phone app shows as connected, but I don't want that!!
