No you did not.

First link is about crashplan app and the other just talks about VSS.
Years ago yes it was the right thing to do was backup outside of windows but those days are over.
This is 2024 not 2000.
Guess some people just like living in the past.

I hope you know another thing about imaging outside windows is you are most likely backing up gigs of data you do not need to.

See my post #20. The bootable Rescue Media of Acronis True Image has an option in its GUI to specify file/folder exclusions with (optional) wildcards. Also see post #28. The bootable Rescue Media of Macrium Reflect X still does not have such an option in its GUI.

See above. There simply is no need to futz around with the registry, at least not when you use the bootable Rescue Media of Acronis True Image to create system images that have exclusions.

HASLEO (previously known as EasyUEFI) has been around for over 13-years. During that time it has never been accused of DATA mining much less even calling home when unnecessary. It is a small group of excellent developers with a low operating budget.

Yes, they have an excellent FREE version of their product (it has limitations) but also an even more excellent PAID version (non-subscription) that includes lifetime updates/version upgrades, along with a most affordable "Family Pack" license option.

From my experience (and IMHO) they do not mine data...

Macrium reflect 8.1 free
Aomei Backupper Pro
EaseUS ToDo backup Pro
I have found Hasloe free to be the fastest, with lower file sizes.

Hasleo Backup Suite

My experience with Hasleo is identical to that of @Froggie. They are a small team and a young company, but the Hasleo Team is incredibly dedicated to creating the best imaging solution available. They are very responsive to user feedback. You can check out their Hasleo Backup Suite Forum here and judge for yourself whether their solution might meet your needs:

As for data mining, I am more concerned about MS and Google. I have seen no evidence to suggest that Hasleo does any data mining. The fact is that if you venture online, your data is ALWAYS being mined.
