Yes and no.

Not "like" Memtest, but will show flaws if they exist.

Prime95 is a fairly decent test, and Cinebench will also "work" the CPU.
The nice thing about Prime95, is that you can run a few different tests, which stress different things.

Unless severely overvolted, CPUs don't really "break". They're either more or less "stable".
This is what Prime95 will test for... stability.

If a CPU is "broken", you won't really need any program to figure that out.
Generally, you test the RAM and stress the vid card, and if they don't show problems, then consider the CPU.

Most of the time, if the CPU is broken... you'll know it fairly fast.

A good CPU benchmark is Cinebench R23...

Here's a screen from back when I was playing with mild overclocks. I was comparing Prime95 with AIDA64.
They are... similar, but Prime95 will work the CPU much harder.

Last but not least... these are the folk (top of Cinebench R23 leader board), who are most into "modern" overclocking and I would imagine... stress testing.

You'll have to ask them... if their scores are just one-offs, or if they're 24/7 stable at those scores.

There are many besides the ones already mentioned. Asus Realbench 2.56, AIDA64, and OCCT, are some of the other ones I use. most and would recommend. Monitor the tests with HWINFO64 to check for Hardware (WHEA) errors.

I would warn that you'd better make darn sure you have good cooling before running Prime95. You'd also want a temp monitoring app running to keep an eye on your temps.

Honestly for a novice, I go with the apps Geno mentioned and stay away from Prime95 especially if this is the first time using it.

I bought this CPU back in early 2017, so surely it's still fine. AMD 1800X . . . . I just had a friend purchase me a brand new PSU. So i'm hoping that's the cause of it. My RAM is fine, Video Card? That thing is about 10 years old. (AMD R9 270X) I don't think a bad video card would cause intermitten freezes, random shut downs, etc. . I'm hoping it's just the PSU.

Actually, a bad / failing video card can cause those things. This is not unheard of.

That's not what I've read. . I've read that if the failing video card is going bad, then you wouldn't get video at all or it would go out, etc. I always have video, i just get intermitten freezes, random shut downs/restarts. BUT, anything is possible i guess. . . Not saying you are wrong. . I am getting a new PSU on Wednesday though. It's currently on it's way. . . . Just couldn't afford a video card with it.

Though video driver bugs can cause freezes as well as memory hardware issues.

Yeah... it's a tough call. That vid card is getting long in the tooth, and those power supplies, even though of high wattage, are not from very good PSU companies.

Yeah, I just read last night that that card ships from China, even though the logo says GeForce. . Sounds like a fake knockoff, honestly.
