Windows 11
I do not remember this problem with Windows 10.

Sometimes when I open Google Chrome, or anything else, it covers the whole window, including the task bar. At other times it will cover the whole of the window but the task bar covers the bottom of the app. Often it will size correctly covering the whole of the screen except the task bar.

I have Windows 11 Home, version 22H2, although the problem has happened to every version of Win 11 from first installation. It is kept up to date, all drivers are up to date, including my graphics card.

The mobo is a Gigabyte Aorus Z390 Pro and the graphics card is Nvidia Quadro P400. The graphics card driver is up to date, but I have not updated any mobo drivers, especially the bios as I do not wish to try to update that in case it goes wrong.

I am resigned to having to live with this irritating problem unless someone can come up with a solution.

Thanks for looking.

I have found that Windows will remember the size of a window and the taskbar always will show on top of it as long as you have each apps' properties' "Run" option set as normal window. The key is to NEVER set this option as maximized.. (ie:Right click on application's icon or exe file, select properties, RUN:normal window)
I fixed mine by doing this. Then when I opened any application such as my browser or file explorer, I dragged the edges of the window until it was just barely less than full screen. When I closed and reopened it, it was the way I left it. When my taskbar unhides it shows over the bottom of all my opened windows.

Now the only time I ever have to resize an app's window again is if I have a particular app open in a snap layout and close the app before I unsnap it.

If your Firefox icon is on your desktop, right click on it and select properties. . (If it's on your taskbar, right click on icon, then right click again on Firefox in the popup menu. Select properties)

Thanks glasskuter, I have icons for both Chrome and Opera on my desktop. Checking both of them shows that Run already says normal window, but Chrome sometimes opens correctly and other times does not.
