Bear with me as I don't know the correct terminology to explain my problem.

I have open-shell 4.4.196 installed.

I recently updated to 24H2 from 23H2 and I don't like the look of the folder when I've connected an external harddrive.

Is it possible to get it back to how it used to look?

I've attached an image of what it now looks like which I don't like.

What did it used to look like?
I can't remember, but if I see it I'll know.
What did the tools section at the top of folders look like in 23H2 because it's changed with 24H2.

No but thanks anyway.
There again it could be but what would an external harddrive look like when connected?

All drives in File (Windows) Explorer will have the same view whether it is an internal or external drive.

Did you try a System Restore to a time before the update?
If you take a screenshot of the way you like it and attach it to this thread before doing the update again, we can help.

Are you talking about the old Command Bar?

I don't know cuz I don't use that ridiculous Explorer SDK!
I use Windows 7 Explorer, courtesy of StartAllBack...

Since my system has been set up a while I rarely do anything but cut, copy, paste, and rename so I just depend on the old full right click context menu, keyboard shortcuts, or Brinks method through Control Panel if I need one of the other drive tools.
To get the full right click context menu

what would an external harddrive look like when connected

Mine looks like this because I force each drive to use another icon.
I use an autorun,inf file and an 2 different .ico files to differentiate a usb disk drive and a usb flash drive.
Here's how.
Find an icon you like, and give it a name. (If you want I can give you mine. I have a lot.)
Connect the removable drive you want to set a custom icon for.

Using File Explorer, open the removable drive.

Copy the icon file to the root of the drive

At the root of the drive, right-click, select New, and click Text Document.

Copy and paste the following into the text document replacing iconname.ico with the name you gave your icon. Replace the drive-label with whatever name you want for your drive :
[Autorun]
Icon=iconname.ico
Label=drive-label

Save file as autorun.inf
Be sure to click drop arrow and select all files
Restart and voila. Your drives have a new look.

I've removed Classic Explorer which was installed by open-shell which has tidied things up.
I'll get used to the new look.
Thanks to everyone who replied.
