After the problems I encountered with setting up Stereo Mix, described in Stereo Mix Problem , I found that the Realtec Audio is keeping the computer from sleeping.

An on-line search for how to fix it found this, MS Sleep Fix , which says to use this command,

powercfg -REQUESTSOVERRIDE DRIVER "High Definition Audio Device" SYSTEM ,

inserting from powercfg -requests the actual name of the driver, in my case HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0899&SUBSYS_10280859&REV_1000\4&17327fc&0&0001 . I have also seen one or two other sites giving the same command to fix the problem.

I am a bit leery of doing this due to the original (Stereo Mix) problems, so I am asking for input here from users of the forum who may have used this command, negative or positive before I employ the suggested sleep remedy.

After trying several times to get the powercfg -requestsoverride driver construct to work with no results, I gave up on that, and a renewed search for assistance did not turn up any other possible solutions. That being so, I started to ponder what I could do to possibly figure out how to solve the problem.

I don't actually know what prompted me to go to Control Panel/Sounds, where I found the Pebble 3 speakers the first enabled item, as I expected, so I disabled it and returned to my open cmd.exe and ran powercfg -requests, where I no longer found anything keeping the computer from sleeping.

My next step was to re-enable Pebble 3 and disable Realtek Audio; that left powercfg -requests showing all three entries, telling me that there had to be a problem with the Pebble 3 speakers, so I re-enabled Realtek Audio, and started a search for known Pebble 3 problems. That very quickly found an item stating that there is a Pebble 3 problem, and the file to fix it is on the Creative web site.

It took me a short while to find and download the file that was stated on the web site to fix a known problem of Pebble 3 speakers preventing computers from sleeping. The web site presented a very good set of text and visual instructions of what the necessary steps needed to be taken to prepare the speakers for allowing the update file to run.

The file having been installed and the speakers turned off and the audio quality switch on the bottom returned to its high setting, I turned on the Pebble 3 speakers, which always take a short while to be ready to use. As soon as the light stopped flashing, I did yet another powercfg -requests, where I was pleased to find that nothing was now keeping the computer from sleeping. Just to reassure myself, I went back to the computer after more than the two hour sleep setting, and found that the computer was asleep.

For those who need the translation of the Latin, it is ""The end crowns the work", and so it did
