Bought a pair of Beyerdynamic DT 990 600 ohm headphones today. I am one of those tragics who has more than one pair of phones!
1. Sennheiser HD 600 (open back)
2. Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro (closed back) for nighttime listening.
3. Beyerdynamic DT 990 Edition (open back).

The HD 600 and DT 990 have different sound. Both I've equalised using Morphit and it's settings for each phone. The DT 990's are brighter in the treble, but better bass than the Sennheisers. Both connected to my audio stack: Cambridge Audio DACMAGIC200M and Topping L50 amp.

In classical music the DT990 are great for large orchestral and organ with the wide soundstage making an impact. Chorzempa's recording of organ music of Bach and Liszt is fabulous with these phones. The Sennheiser are very good with chamber music and piano. Both these phones do show up poorly recorded music fairly easily with the DT990's more analytical.

I'd love to own a pair of Sennheiser HD 800s but would need to setup crowdfunding to afford it! 😭

I've found a reason to keep Audirvana Studio on my desktop PC instead of sending it to the Recycle Bin in the sky. It's an easy way to run my headphone equalising plugin Morphit via VST while streaming Qobuz. The Qobuz Windows app doesn't do VST.

As you're the Guru of organ music here at these august forums. Can you give me a shortlist of organ recordings with a) very good sound and b) some accurate low bass. Reason, testing these new Beyerdynamic DT 990s and comparing them to my Sennheiser HD600s.

I had a listen to the Ruffati organ recording, Widor piece. I listened to it while running a spectrum analyzer. There is as you pointed out some serious bass. Went down to 20hz about a 3rd of the way through! The Telarc engineers did a great job recording Murray.

That Great Organ at Methuen one is on Qobuz with a different cover (see below). I'll have a listen to it a bit later on when I get a chance.
