Autocorrect will not disable

I am an experienced PC user and having trouble with the word "indesign" which is always autocorrected to "indesing". (I type this word quite frequently when seeking help online). I have gone to great lengths, including watching hours of youtube videos, to disable autocorrect, turn off dictionaries, turn off customised inking etc etc but the behaviour persists in eg Chrome browser, Word, Notepad, ChatGPT and indeed any app where I type that word.
The word "resign" is not autocorrected to "resing" so I am baffled as to what is going on. I can't think of anything else to try. Can anybody shed some light?

I am on Windows 11 23H2 Build 22631.3593.

I would assume you would need to add the word to the dictionary belonging to whatever it is you are using at the time.

In some cases, like Firefox, it highlights an incorrect word and when right clicking on that word, at the bottom of the right click context menu you can “add to dictionary”

I assume everywhere you see the word autocorrected, there has to be a dictionary attached to that program or an autocorrect option to be turned off.

Add a word to Google Chrome’s Custom Spelling Dictionary

To add words, you right-click on that word, and it will show the correctly spelled word, or you click on ‘Add to Dictionary.’ By doing so, you should not come across this problem again.

The only thing I can add to @antspants comprehensive answers is that, if you are referring to Adobe InDesign, then you may like to add it to the dictionary with Adobe's preferred capitalisation. Auto-correct is not only for spelling, it also corrects capitalisation. I've lost count of the number of times I've used it to correct microsoft to Microsoft.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Are you using any other software that corrects spelling? I'm thinking of Grammarly and ProWritingAid for example.

Does the same thing happen in Edge and Firefox?

Wow Antspants! Thanks for that amazingly comprehensive response. Sadly I believe that I have comprehensively checked, added to dictionaries, turned off all autocorrections already - and indeed they are all appear to be turned off with the exception of this one word. I have asked ChatGPT but all I get is the same list of remedies I have already tried. I seem to be the victim of some AI malware with a very narrow focus! Notepad++ is a non-MS app with no connection to the browser or Word or Indesign. It has no spellchecker. If I type "spellink" it does not autocorrect it. But it still autocorrects the word "indesign". Maddening!

There is an auto-completion function in Notepad++ that may be your culprit.

There is no spell check plugin for my Notepad++ and I had already turned off all autocorrect options but guess what - it still autocorrects "indesign". Doesn't autocorrect "redesign" though so it must be the specific word. I wonder if there is a way to search the Windows 11 default.dic to see if the word exists in it?

If you paste "indesign" does it get changed to "indesing" or does it only change to "indesing" as you're typing?

Does the problem occur using a different user account?
