Windows 11 Home - Version 25H2 26200.8655
If I insert a working USB Flash drive, I hear a sound indicating that the drive has been recognized but Autoplay does not bring up File Explorer. The drive is correctly displayed after I bring up File Explorer manually.

Autoplay settings have been checked several times. Removable Drive is enabled (Open folder to view files - File Explorer).

I ran services.msc and restarted Shell Hardware Detection which was already running.

The following DISM commands were run:

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /CheckHealth
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /ScanHealth
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /RestoreHealth (Ran for over 30 minutes)

SFC/Scannow passes.

The system has been rebooted several times.

Any help appreciated.

I just updated to version 26200.8457 a few days ago.

It does look like Windows update is my next step. I may wait a few days.

Thanks for the suggestion.

It looks like version 26200.8524 was also available.

I've had that issue for quite a while on my System 1. Under any number of 11 Pro 25H2 builds.

I tried removing the USB controllers in Device Manager. (I use a USB keyboard and mouse, so those will disappear at some point. A short press of the cases power button then causes a normal shutdown.) The controllers will be re-detected on startup.

It worked briefly, then stopped.

I can live without Autoplay, which is why I haven't gone to a clean Windows install.

I await any additional advice that you may get.

Thanks. But it didn't repair autoplay for me.

Incidentally, the "Exit" command closes the CLI window. Unless you can read a lot faster than me, it's difficult to see that the script did its work.

A while back Autoplay quit working on one of my machines, I tracked it down to an install of Minitool Partition Wizard, which I know sounds strange, but that was the problem. I uninstalled with Revo and reinstalled and Autoplay started working again.

Incidentally, the "Open Autoplay" option in the context menu is present, but it does nothing.

Can you access it in setting > Bluetooth & Devices > autoplay

Also, check this registry key.

Code:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\AutoplayHandlers

DisableAutoplay should be set to 0 if it says 1 change it to 0 then reboot.

The key did not exist.

I created it. Didn't change anything (after a reboot).

I think I'll give up on the issue, again.

My justification for getting involved with this thread is to suggest to "KX707" that a build update may not be responsible for the issue. Even if the timing is suspicious.

Thanks all for the additional comments and information.

I updated to Windows 11 version 26200.8655 and there was no change with Autoplay.

Now that I think about it, I believe Autoplay has failed occasionally over the last several years. This system was running Windows 10 through the fall of last year. That makes me wonder if the Motherboard, chipset, or drivers could be a factor.

I decided to test Autoplay this morning with my Canon compact camera. Autoplay is not working for this case either.

This system did have Minitool Partition Wizard installed. The program was removed yesterday through the Windows Control Panel with no apparent effect on Autoplay.

I will also put this problem aside for the time being. It takes only one click of the mouse to bring up File Explorer.

Yesterday I reviewed the registry file entries in the Enable Autoplay Tutorial that was referenced earlier in this thread. I then looked at the registry values on my system.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoDriveTypeAutorun"=dword:000000ff

Something didn't look right in one of the Explorer keys. The entry dword:000000ff would prevent Autoplay from running.

I backed up the two different Explorer registry keys and then ran Enable_AutoPlay_for_all_drives_for_all_users.reg.

A flash drive was inserted and Autoplay worked! The system was restarted and Autoplay continued to work with two other flash drives.

I created a favorite in the registry editor for both Explorer registry keys so they can be easily accessed.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

Yesterday I enabled and disabled Autoplay several times and no changes were seen in either registry key.

Thanks all again for the help and thanks KevTech for the reference to Brink's Tutorial.
