BIOS refuses to update

Aorus Master X570S Master just absolutely refuses to update.
I've tried a USB stick through the BIOS
I've tried through the App Center
It doesn't matter how I go about it I get the same results.
It tells me the system will Automatically reboot in 10 seconds but it actually shuts down. I give it 5 mins and power on the system myself. No update. I'm still Version F3 when I was trying for Versions F5 or F6C

Having issues with USB ports losing signal or power randomly.
My Xbox dongle and the controller lose signal which is really bad while gaming. I've tried different ports but it doesn't seem to happen when it's plugged into the 7 port hub. Not sure about that one.

Random thought. Have you tried setting the BIOS back to default settings and unpluging every other USB device before using Q-Flash?

If the reset didn't work, old school solution is to remove the CMOS battery for a several minutes with any available jumper in "clear BIOS" position and after putting back to normal, reinsert the battery.

Good idea, the X570s actually has a Clear Cmos/Reset button on the rear panel

First I would ask are you sure you're using the correct motherboard bios?

Clicker, I can’t just assume that you’ve checked your Manual, take a read of page 73 and onward for anything that might help with the update. And BamalnArk is right, but I just assumed you had the right BIOS file as you address you MB by name.

The first thing I did was revert the BIOS to default. The only setting I ever adjusted was the RAM XMP profile. I learned the hard way leaving that option on caused a big issue.

I haven't tried resetting the BIOS or removing the cmos battery. Will try that tomorrow or sooner if I find the time.

I would assume the files I've tried were correct since the app center allowed them to "install" and they came straight from the Gigabyte website.

I used to be a member of the Gigabyte user forums. That is until Gigabyte killed it completely. It eventually ended up only being user supported with no official Gigabyte support. I remember one of the recommendations was to NOT use their App Center as it tended to mess things up. Also there was post after post about problematic "Master" motherboards. I vowed I would never own one.

You should only need to use the CMOS button at the back of the MB (back of PC top most of the MB panel)

I could never understand why they did that. There is a Gigabyte community forum in the UK but I had no luck joining.

Have you tried using different USB sticks. I know it sound silly, but I had 2 new Sandisk USB sticks and I could see them in the BIOS updater but neither would load correctly and I got the reboot problem. I tried a third older Kingston USB stick and the process ran trouble free.

I only updated the BIOS as Gigabyte had a fix for the LogoFAIL UEFI vulnerability (F29). I'm so glad I did as I could only ever use XMP2 with the previous BIOS (F24) without the system crashing occasionally but now I'm running XMP1 and it is flawless.

If you're using Q-Flash on a board hobbled with USB issues, that isn't good; and especially if you're trying to update the BIOS.

Before updating the BIOS, I've look to insure the USB ports are fully working. If everything is working when using Q-Flash to update the BIOS, it should see the .bin file for the update. However, if the USB ports are erratic, that "could" cause your issue.

All that said, if the board is new or still under warranty, I'd look to have it replaced of serviced. You might also consider calling Gigabyte. I've been using Gigabyte boards since 2008 and have always found Gigabyte's support helpful when needed.

I've always had good success on this site (overclock.net) for Gigabyte questions. I use intel boards, but this is the forum for AMD based boards.

And yeah, most (me included) do not recommend App Center. In fact, the first (and last time) I used App Center was somewhere around 2008 with the second of 5 Gigabyte boards I've used thus far. Never looked at it again. That said, I can't say if it's gotten any better since than or not.

but dump @bios (In App Center) and stick to Q-Flash.

I've used 5 Gigabyte boards (including the one in my system specs) and I've NEVER used @bios for any BIOS updates. I'd almost guarantee success using Q-Flash (assuming you don't have USB port issues).

After disconnecting every other USB device, make sure your thumbdrive with latest BIOS is inserted in port F, which is the Q-Flash port (see pic.). No other port will work.

Also make sure Q-Flash Plus functionality is enabled in BIOS. Refer to your manual for instructions.

That's a damn good point, and one I forgot to mention. Yes, you need to use the port dedicated for Q-Flash. Please doublecheck the owner's manual that you're using the correct port for Q-Flash BIOS updates!!!

BTW, if using the correct port there should be zero reason to disconnect other devices. Between the five Gigabyte boards (Intel) I have I've probably done at least 15 to 20 BIOS update using Q-Flash and have never disconnected other devices.

That said, and given your issues, I can fully understand where @SlicEnDicE is coming from so it's worth a try, though under normal circumstances, it's unnecessary.

There's always a good reason to unplug everything not needed, especially in cases where there already are issues with USB-ports. Normally it's not necessary, but in this case I think it's vital. We don't want a failed flash to occur because of some power interruptions in the ports.

Okay some misinfo here regarding flashing. Please guys get it correct. There is NO specific USB port you have to use with Q-Flash. Any USB port will work and you can even have the bios on a hard drive. Q-Flash Plus however must use the specific USB port designated for Q-Flash Plus. This is made clear in the manual. Q-Flash Plus is designed to used on a motherboard powered off state with power connected...as in not booted up.

Q-Flash Plus is similar to Flash Back on other motherboards.

@BamaInArk please note that other methods has already failed after several attempts. Q-Flash Plus is the last option and the dedicated port should be used.
