BIOS time is really long


Have you tried the setting I suggested in post #16? I too had the RAM mobo light on a long time which seemed to indicate something with memory. Changed the setting and all was well.

Well. IMO, it points to retraining of your memory timings every boot. That may be for a reason (it is not stable across boots). Or it just could be configuration of the memory settings. Are you sure there isn't a setting towards the end of your memory timings section called MRC fast boot or something similar?

Do a search for Memory Context Restore in your BIOS and enable both.

I would reset bios setting to default and try then go to optimized. If you have 4 sticks of ram remove 2 use slots 2 and 4 for 2 sticks.
Disable smart check for drives, try to enable fast boot (just to see, I keep it on) Disable boot logo display. Set post delay to 0 seconds. Option rom messages (Keep curent).

Try that and go from there.

Dunno how to make it more clear. Boot into bios (assuming asus considering where this is posted), do a search for Memory Context Restore, and enable BOTH settings. Save Changes and Restart. No clue why there is 2 references to it but if you only enable one you’ll get a blue screen on boot. Enable both and you’ll see faster boot times.

Worked for me. There’s quite a few posts out there regarding this. 🤷‍♂️

One 990 Pro (boot) and two 970 EVO's. And I actually just installed a SK hynix P41 500GB to which I restored a Win 10 image which I'm posting from right now :-)

I'm actually expecting delivery of 3 2TB SK hynix P41's to replace my two 970 EVO's and my SATA SSD's.

Your post was clear, concise, and baffling. I didn't Web search "memory context restore".

My current systems lack that BIOS setting. (Both use DDR5, although one uses RDIMMs.) I've never heard of it.

Is it an AM5 specific thing? I don't have such a MB.

I apologize if my response sounded rude or condescending, that was not my intent.

I was referring/responding specifically to OP's question regarding his new AM5 based ASUS X670E-F. I recently built based around a similar board (B650E-F Gaming WiFi) and also experienced a longer boot time than I was used to coming from AM4. Upon Googling "ASUS long boot times" there were quite a few posts regarding this.

Memory Context Restore being enabled worked well for me. The only issue I had was user error, as when you do a search for this setting in your ASUS bios, there's 2 references. I mistakenly only enabled one of the two settings and was met with a blue screen upon reboot. Once I realized my mistake and enabled both settings, I've had no issues since. Perhaps OP can look into that search and see if any of that information will help his issue, specifically Enable Context Restore.

Again, I apologize if my response was abrasive as it wasn't meant to be.

^This. This is the same settings I was talking about “MRC Fast Boot”. I did not realize Asus called it something different on AMD boards. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Prevents the memory from retraining on each boot.

I was referring/responding specifically to OP's question regarding his new AM5 based ASUS X670E-F. I recently built based around a similar board (B650E-F Gaming WiFi) and also experienced a longer boot time than I was used to coming from AM4. Upon Googling "ASUS long boot times" there were quite a few posts regarding this.

Memory Context Restore being enabled worked well for me. The only issue I had was user error, as when you do a search for this setting in your ASUS bios, there's 2 references. I mistakenly only enabled one of the two settings and was met with a blue screen upon reboot. Once I realized my mistake and enabled both settings, I've had no issues since. Perhaps OP can look into that search and see if any of that information will help his issue, specifically Enable Context Restore.
