Bitlocker as an alternative to VeraCrypt?

I've been using VeraCrypt to encrypt and access and small "drive" for several years but have lately had some problems and am looking for an alternative. I'm trying to determine if Bitlocker will serve but I can't tell if some needed features exist so I'm asking here.

The "drive" in question is a VeraCrypt container file on a NAS, accessed (one at a time) by 4 computers. (I think the equivalent for Bitlocker would be VHDX file.) Since this file needs to be accessed by multiple computers it needs to be locked and dismounted when not in use ... whether the user remembers to do this or not. I need it to be "closed" when

• the user logs off
• the user locks the account
• the computer enters low power state or shuts down
• ideally by an inactivity timeout.

Is there any way to get Bitlocker to do this? In theory, VeraCrypt supports all of these requirements. In practice, they stopped working sometime in the past year - possibly when I upgraded to Win11, but I think maybe before.

I am using a Bitlocker enabled .vmdx file for some backups that I do for work based stuff. It works well for me. However, i am on the sole user and I only mount it when I run a backup, so I do not have to do any of the things that you mention.

Dismounting of a (bitlocked) vhdx file can be done by a script (launched by a scheduled task) that gets triggered on idle or at logoff or when the pc is being locked. Ideally, the idle timeout will always be reached before the low power state, so that can be fulfilled as well. And shutdown happens to dismount drives as well, so yes, this will work with bitlocker.
