BitLocker questions

windows 11 home
Hello,

I have 3 HP Laptops since 2022 that came with Windows 11 Home. They are the only machines with Win 11 operating systems I ever had.

When I log in to my Microsoft account, I see the names of all 3 laptops under "Devices". IE: Machine 1 , Machine 2 and Machine 3

When I access my BitLocker keys page, I see 2 recognizable device names, Machine 1 and Machine 2, with associated BitLocker keys. However, one device name with an associated bitlocker key does not say Machine 3, it just says LAPTOP-XXXXXX (a letter and some numbers) and I can't find those anywhere in Machine 3.
In Machine 3 System, "Device Encryption" is enabled, however, the line below says BitLocker Drive Encryption and when I click on that it gives a pop up that says upgrade to Windows 11 Pro. Hmmmmm

So, the questions are..

1.) Does machine 3 actually have BitLocker or some other encryption ?

2.) How do I know if the unknown device (LAPTOP-XXXXXX) bitlocker key listed on my Microsoft account is for Machine 3 ?

I just changed the name of Machine 3 and re-started, and the new name showed up on my Microsoft home page, but still not on the BitLocker page.

If machine 3 goes down, I am curious if the unknown BitLocker key will work or not.

Thanks for an ideas

BitLocker isn't fully available on Windows 11 Home; it's a Pro/Enterprise/Education feature, but Home has a lighter "Device Encryption" (similar tech, fewer controls) which might be enabled by default, especially on newer systems with compatible hardware, offering basic protection for the OS drive; for full BitLocker control (like encrypting other drives or specific management) in Home, you'd need third-party tools or upgrade to a Pro version.

The other 2 devices I have, Machine 1 and Machine 2 are Home versions that show a BitLocker key, so are those keys invalid ?
I appreciate the information.
Thanks

Your Windows 11 Home device encryption recovery key is usually saved to your Microsoft account automatically when encryption turns on; you can find it at account.microsoft.com/devices/recoverykey, or it might be on a saved USB, a printed file, or a work/school account if applicable, so check those locations if the online account doesn't show it.

Thanks. I have 3 recovery keys, but one of the keys is associated with an unknown computer name and don't know why it doesn't display the correct name. Encryption is turned on.

No clue why here what i know is Windows 11 latest builds turn on BitLocker by default at clean-installation and i think happens when you install one of security update.

I will just assume the BitLocker key for the bogus Laptop-XXXXX name that is displayed on the BitLocker account page is actually for Machine 3, and I will forget about it.
I really appreciate the input. Thanks.
