Does it launch to that page directly? Or does even a direct uri load the blank app?

Nope. But if I close the blank page and immediately run that command again, it comes right up. It sure seems like something that should be running is not running, and it gets started when I get the blank page, so the second time everything is back to normal.

It's only a minor annoyance, and I haven't seen any other symptoms, so the urgency of "fixing" is isn't great. I was kinda' hoping it was something simple that was easily addressed. I don't see applying extreme measures or spending a lot of time trying to fix it is in the cards right now.

This is what I get the first time I try to open settings after sleep.

ok. so does the script i made work at all? it launches it, redirects to accounts page, then back to system page. im wondering if that "refreshes" it. i also made one that closes and immediately reopens it if it hasnt been opened in the past 60 seconds, but we know that one will work

As an experiment, open the Settings app and leave it alone. Allow your PC to sleep. When you return, is the Settings app (which has been there the whole time) responsive or not?

I suspect the Settings app is trying to initially pull data before opening up, and that process takes too long after waking for sleep. If Settings is already running in background, then it's not doing the initial data collection.

Is your default Settings screen the "Home" page?

yep. its Home. which is one of the worst things they've implemented into that app... ever. I've always hidden it from mine so it opens to System directly. but is there particular data on the Home page that you think is causing the hiccup?

Well, mixed results. It worked right off coming back from sleep this time, not sure why. I'll have to see if I can characterize the behavior better. Yes, my default is "home", truthfully I didn't know that there was any other option.

Whatever data is on the home page is the defaults. I have no idea if the home page is the issue, it's just where settings opens.

Depending on your PC's sleep mode, it may need a few seconds to resume network connectivity.

When you load the Home page, it has to pull your MS Account-related details. Like if you're using OneDrive, and how much is left in your storage quota. Not everyone uses MSA, but that logic is built into the app.

I'm not using the Microsoft account at all, nor do I use OneDrive. Of course, that fact could actually be slowing me down!

You can try hiding the Home Page to see if that was the difference.

PowerShell likes to steal double-quotes when running any external (non-builtin) command. CMD does not.

Try this:

Well, I did run it in a command window and it gave me the same error.

Do I have to reboot to make this take?

I think your Windows is flaky. No, you don't have to reboot. Just close and re-open Settings.

Well, I think it's something on the Home page. With home hidden, the Settings opens in a FLASH on the System tab, so far all the time. Very odd... I never used anything on the home page anyway, so this might be the final solution!

A follow up, still works after I got back from a trip and it was idle for several days. Obviously, something on the Home page was causing the delay, but I have no idea what it was. AFAIK, I never changed anything about what appears on the home page from the defaults. I sure didn't changed it intentionally! :lmao:

Removing the home page was the right call, it seemed pretty useless anyway!
