Bluetooth takes too long to disable on Windows 11

Windows Pro 11 22H2 Build 22621.1992
When disabling the Bluetooth for the first time after a (re)boot, it needs a few minutes to truly disable and I can not enable it again in the meantime. After that, disabling BT for the 2nd time (or more) works immediately without issues until a (re)boot.

This issue is not present on Windows 10, it started with Windows 11.

I have a Ubit WIE7265 Wifi/Bluetooth 4.2 card in my PC (shown as AC-7265 in Device Manager). I am using the latest Bluetooth driver version 20.100.10.7. Using Windows 11 Pro 21H2 build 22000.613.

Is anyone else with experiencing this issue?

Not here, but got a question - how long after reboot are you waiting to disable BT? Does it take the same amount of time that first attempt to disable it whether you want 5 minutes after reboot or 1 hour after reboot?

Yes, even after waiting 2 hours. Mind you I don't have Bluetooth automatically enabled at (re)boot. It is off and the issue happens when I turn it on and then off for the first time after a (re)boot.

Do you have BT enabled by default at boot? If yes, perhaps you could turn it off, reboot and test the issue?

Also, what kind of BT device do you have with which driver version?

Yeah, mine is enabled by default as I need to use it at a given moment's notice for work. I'm currently still at work, and cannot test right away, but I can try it later on.

How long are you waiting between enabling and then disabling?

My BT device is built into my motherboard, using Intel driver 22.130.0.5. I *believe* it is a combination with my Killer AX1650 WiFi adapter.

Most Notebooks will have Bluetooth as part of the Wireless/Wi-Fi adapter and some modern Desktops with the optional Wireless. On my WIn11 Notebook going to Airplane Mode turns off both Wireless and Bluetooth pretty quickly, within a few seconds.

Thanks for the info. The waiting time between enabling and disabling can be as long as hours. I have just deleted the BT device driver and reinstalled it but no avail.

What if you turn Bluetooth off through its own toggle button instead of the Airplane mode?

I do exactly that with a couple older Notebooks that didn't come with Bluetooth as part of the Wireless adapter. It's an IOGear dongle, blue and rounded so it doesn't snag when I put the Notebook in the case with it still plugged in.

Ooops, didn't read correctly, the dongles don't have a button or switch.

Apologies, I was unable to test yesterday, as it was a long day for me. I'll try it out today and see if it makes a difference here.

Is it possible that you have devices connected that are slowing the process down? Like Dynamic Lock, for instance? I do, but if you do not, then I'll probably need to turn mine off to get as close to your scenario as possible.

No problem. I appreciate taking the time.

No, I don't have Dynamic Lock enabled. I always turn off my BT before shutting down/restarting my PC. When it is booted again, I enable BT when I need it and then disable it again. That's when it sometimes takes a long time to truly disable and I can't interact with the toggle button. I noticed this can be quite random.

Let me know whether this is reproducible.

Apologies, I wasn't clear. I meant the BT toggle button in Windows 11 itself (when clicking on the speaker/network icon in the systray). I don't have a dongle but an internal card so it's probably best to test this on your notebooks that did come with internal BT. If you disable the BT through the systray as mentioned, reboot and then enable BT and disable it again, would this take too long to truly disable and make the BT button non-interactable?

Also, you might want to check if your BT card is integrated with a WiFi card. If so, and your WiFi is in use, that could cause an issue.

On my end, it takes a bit of time to start, and about the same to stop, but nothing like a massive slow down to stop. But this is off a single test, and I have other issues wrt a monitor I am testing so rebooting is a chore.

Still, I'll give it a few more shots throughout the day.

Appreciate the effort, it's so hard to confirm an issue when it's so random without a reason.

Yeah. I'm troubleshooting some hardware from my company, and it's the same thing - trying to figure out what and how an issue is occurring when it is completely random and that is not my primary job to begin with is very, very difficult.
