I need to boot into a windows environment and use Intel RST drivers I have on the USb in a separate folder. They're for an Intel RST / VMD controller and I'm sure Windows doesnt have them built in. I'm trying to clone an nvme onto a new drive and Acronis is not seeing the new drive.

Wow. My other option os to do a fresh install on a new drive and add the Intel drivers to the Windows USB. I'm kind of surprised MS doesn thave those drivers built in. Hate to tdo it but there isnt a whole lot to clone. I;d nee to download some HP software. Thank you for your reply.

Windows does include one version of the Intel RST driver. The problem is there are so many Intel RAID controller variants over the years (that Windows can't bundle every version of them). And it's known that some RST drivers are not interchangeable, depending on your controller model.

Which is why it's not uncommon for users to have to add specific RST drivers to a boot or install image.

Ideally, I'd boot a WIN RE usb and add the intel drivers if asked then go into restore a system image from an NVME enclosure ontoth enew drive in the PCIe slot on the mother board. Havent done it in a while but IIRC the WIN RE usb will prompt for them. Similar to a fresh install when and if it doesnt find a drive.

WinRE is basically the same WinPE boot environment but with extra features. But only WinPE has the Setup.exe program which asks if you have a driver folder to load from.

For WinRE, you can copy the extracted RST driver folder to the USB drive and manually import the driver while in WinRE.

1. Open a new CMD shell with Shift-F10.
2. drvload C:\folder\path\driver_name.inf
