Hi all,

My current system is a Precision T7920 and using a Dell Ultra-Speed Quad NVMe Adapter and has been working fine pre-Windows 11 24H2.

When I first upgraded to 24H2 I received a BSOD and after further investigation I realised that the update changed the Storage Controller driver from the Standard NVM Express Controller driver to the Phison NVMe 1.2 Storport Miniport driver, I had to upgrade again and finally booted into windows then rolled back driver to the Standard NVM Express Controller driver and all is well until I updated to 25H2.

It looks like Microsoft wants to use the Phison NVMe 1.2 Storport Miniport driver since 24H2 release.

Is this happening because of the adapter or incompatibility with the chipset/drive (Samsung 980)?

Some other posts in this forum are suggesting to change back to Legacy boot or would installing a different pci-e M.2 adapter fix this?

First, do Option Two, here...

This will prevent MS from installing their driver without your permission. They will still be available in the Optional Updates section.
Many times MS drivers corrupt the installed driver, causing problems.

Then download the driver you want from DELL and install it.

You could also download the DELL driver, then unhook the internet.
Install the DELL driver, then do Option Two in the tutorial above.

Oh, and here's ten points just for filling out your computer specs. :-)

Thanks, updating from Windows 11 24H2 to 25H2 using ISO from MS with Internet disabled still installed the Phison driver, but I did manage to finally boot into windows and rolled back to the Standard NVM Express Controller driver, I don't think it is being downloaded but is in the ISO installation.
Not sure if it is the M.2 drive (Samsung 980 Gen3) conflict or with chipset driver
