Solved Bypass UAC in shortcut

Halo.

I've successfully created a task to run a program at startup as Admin without need of user interaction with the UAC.

It works just fine.

But I can't for the life of me work out how to apply the same work around for a desktop shortcut.

This doesn't work:

Even better, I'd like to just add it to the program executable, which doesn't actually seem possible.
Is there a way I can to do either of these? Shortcut or executable without UAC prompt?

I could install Sordums SkipUAC, it works really well but I have so many processes running in the background as it is, I am needing to dial back on them, I think.

The double quote should go after the .exe, then the arguments. It's interpreting everything inside the quotes as a full path to the .exe, and it's not valid.

I don't have ShareX and I'm too lazy to type... but like so "C:\Program Files\7-Zip\7z.exe" /hello /world

"schtasks [command] /tn" requires a Task Name for /tn. The name must be double-quoted if there's spaces inside.

Code:

schtasks /run /tn "Ants in My Pants Ants in My Pants"
schtasks /run /tn NoPants

I'm a little confused on why you're passing schtasks arguments to ShareX. (by "you," I mean the fella with the pants)

Yes, but when I removed the task name, the task continues to work regardless. Go figure?

It’s not the task that isn’t working, it starts ShareX without user interaction on boot, perfectly.

I just need to apply the same to a Desktop Shortcut.

There is a bug with ShareX, not for everyone, but I am one who experiences it.

If ShareX isn’t run as Admin, settings wont save. Any changes at all, even outside of settings, like border width, an error pops up. “Settings can’t be saved to…”

Oh right right, I see what you're trying to do. Yeah, garlin has it.

You create the scheduled task. Let's say to run "C:\Windows\System32\Cmd.exe /k" elevated. And give the task a name "Run Command Elevated."

Then, the shortcut to run the scheduled task is C:\Windows\System32\schtasks.exe /run /tn "Run Command Elevated". Note the name of the scheduled task at the end.

So, in your case, the shortcut should be C:\Windows\System32\schtasks.exe /run /tn "ShareX_UAC". You don't really need the quotes, since there are no spaces in the task name, but they make me feel pretty.

Not true. The ShareX part runs, because ShareX don't care about your broken schtasks command.

Code:

C:\Users\GARLIN>schtasks /run /tn
ERROR: Invalid syntax. Value expected for '/tn'.
Type "SCHTASKS /RUN /?" for usage.

Either I am confused, or more to the point, I am not explaining myself very well, again.

I shouldn’t of posted anything about the scheduled task.

I just need a shortcut independent to the task, simply for a desktop shortcut to run ShareX without UAC prompt, not a shortcut to run the task.
However, a shortcut to run the task will suffice, thank you

I don't think you can do it without the task. A shortcut will trigger a UAC prompt, even if you tell it to always run as admin.
