Hello and welcome to the forum. First thing to do is type disk cleanup in search box. Run it as administrator. After it scans, select the areas that disk cleanup says can be safely removed and let disk cleanup do its work. It may take a little while. Then check your disk space again.

It that doesn't work, get a little program called TreeSize Free from here.. Toggle the little down arrow and use the portable version. There's no need to install it. Unzip the downloaded file, Go to the unzipped folder and RIGHT click on treesizefree.exe and select run as administrator. This little program breaks each directory down to tell your where all of your disk space is being used.

Within Treesize click SCAN-SELECT DIRECTORY. Select your drive letter. By double clicking on each primary folder,TreeSize Free will break it down to all sub folders to narrow it down further.Once you know what is hogging your drive, someone can better assist you.

I should have mentioned another thing that uses up a ton of disk space...hibernation, which many people do not even use. The hiberfil.sys is a hidden file. The hiberfil.sys took up a whopping 23 gb of disk space on my machine. If you use hibernation, consider using sleep instead and turn off hibernation. To do this open a cmd prompt as administrator and type powercfg.exe –h off
You will see a big difference in the amount of used disk space. You can always turn hibernation back on at any time if sleep does not work for you.

If for some reason you do not see the sleep option in your power menu, here's a tutorial of how to get it there. Add or Remove Sleep in Power menu in Windows 10

@Winuser It surely would be a big help to anyone else who comes here with the same problem if posters would reply with what fixed it for them. But as long as it's solved for this poster, that's the main thing.

I agree! Any solutions for a problem can be helpful to others. Even if it was as easy as just restarting the computer.
