Solved Calculator Taskbar Icon is Blank

I notice when Calculator is open that its taskbar icon is blank. Is this just for me a known bug?

Go here... and right click calc.exe and choose: Send to > Desktop (create shortcut)
Then, on your desktop, make sure your new shortcut for the Calculator works.
Then unpin the blank icon from the Taskbar. And then, right click the "new" Calculator shortcut, (that you just created on the Desktop), and choose: Pin to Taskbar.

When an icon on the Taskbar turns... white, it means the "file path" from the icon to the actual executable file (in this case, calc.exe), is broken. The easiset fix is just make a new shortcut and pin it to the Taskbar.

I have the desktop shortcut. When I select pin to taskbar nothing appears and when I open Calculator the taskbar icon is blank. See the blank icon to he left of the Snipping Tool icon:

Well, then you may need an In-Place upgrade.

Here's my copy of Calculator.
You can put it anywhere (it's technically portable), then make a new shortcut... and that should work.
Maybe you can just put it in System32 and let it overwrite (replace) the old one.

You can also just drop it on the Desktop and then pin it to the Taskbar.
It's the actual Calculator executable file... it'll work from wherever you place it.

You can probably do the same thing with YOUR calc.exe. Just copy and paste it wherever you want.

You could try rebuilding the icon cache ??
I don't think it will help, but it won't hurt anything, and it only takes like a minute.

Or, like most of us... now that you're finding your way around Windows 11... do an In-Place Upgrade, to fix everything...
to give yourself a fresh start. Then, just do your personalizations again.

Sure, it might take a 1/2 day to do all your personalization, but you can also... make a folder on your storage drive called: Win 11 Tweaks or whatever... and save all your tweaks in there. Reg patches, texts reminding yourself what you changed, pics of major Settings changes... etc.

This is my 22H2 tweaks that aren't already in my Win 10 tweaks folder...

DISABLE non-Microsoft:
a) antivirus software
b) firewall software
c) drive encryption software

Right click the ISO image and choose: MOUNT
Open File Explorer and you will see a new drive letter. It will "look" like a DVD optical drive.
Double click the new drive letter to open it.
Find setup.exe and double click it to start the in-place upgrade.

Choose the Keep personal files and apps option.

After it's all done... to UNmount the ISO image, right click the new drive letter and choose: EJECT.

The ONLY thing you will lose is some of your personalizations.
Your drivers, programs and data will be intact.

This turned out to be a profile problem. I created a new profile and all is OK. Thanks Microsoft.
