In other words, I answer yes to antspants's question to OP in How to change the 'Welcome' screen picture . That is what I want to do. Windows only allows you to make them the same or completely eliminate the sign-in screen, as in Enable or Disable Show Lock Screen Background on Sign-in Screen in Windows 11 . It apparently provides no way to make them different, and I have to assume that there's no registry hack to achieve this or Brink would have posted a tute. So is there some third-party hacker utility out there that can do this?

Ok, no answers after exactly a month today, so I'm declaring this issue resolved in the negative. Making the lock-screen and the log-in screen (login screen) different is not possible natively in Windows 11, nor is there any third-party utility that confers such functionality. (trying to include spelling variants so future searchers can find the post more easily.)

have you tried Winaero which will allow you to change the lock screen background
along with many other settings if you want to.

if you do try Winaero please install it in compatibility mode for Windows 7
thats to bypass restrictions for Windows defender.

best of luck Steve ..

The only supported options are to mirror the Lock Screen and Logon Screen backgrounds, or choose none (a solid color).

While you can replace the background image for Lock Screen, there is no provision for having a different image for Logon Screen.
