I have a PC with SSD with win 10 on it, but can't go to 11.
I have new hardware compatible with 11.
Can I take the SSD with win 10, put it in new hardware and make it goes to 11 with USB key?

You don't have to take the SSD out of the unsupported machine and put it in a supported one to upgrade it to Windows 11.

You can upgrade an unsupported Windows 10 machine to Windows 11 if you use a workaround to bypass the system checks. See this tutorial:

There is just one requirement for Windows 11 24H2 that cannot be bypassed. The CPU must support the SSE4.2 instruction set. Most processors since around 2010 have SSE4.2. What CPU is in your Windows 10 PC?

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    My SYSTEM SIX is a Dell Latitude 5550, Core Ultra 7 165H, 64GB RAM, 1TB NVMe SSD, supported device, Windows 11 Pro 24H2, Hyper-V host machine. Updated to 25H2 on 30th September 2025.

    My SYSTEM SEVEN is a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, Intel Core i7-8650U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 2nd 512GB NVMe SSD, a supported device for Windows 11. This is my current general purpose 'main machine'. The installed Windows 11 Home from my System One has been migrated to this machine.
If your CPU is at least above from intel 7th Generation then yes.

The official W11 minimum cpu requirement for Intel Core i3/i5/i7 is 8th gen or above.
Actually W11 24H2 can run on a 1st gen Intel Core, as that was the first generation to have SSE4.2. See my System Two in 'My Computers' for an example.

Yes you can, but isn't recommended as the new NVMe SSD is much faster than a SATA SSD. Also, the new hardware must have once bean with a Win 10 or 11 activated.

I used Rufus and Iso. It installed great and auto activate. But it erased all my programs. Is there a way to be able to keep my programs. I have a backup of win 10, I can start over.

To upgrade to Win 11 keeping programs and data you should do a Repair install, also called a in place upgrade.

You use Rufus. To perform a repair install with a Rufus-created image, first, create a bootable USB drive with a Windows ISO using Rufus. Then, boot your computer from the USB drive and choose the "Repair your computer" option instead of "Install now".
