Yep

Nope.. grams, centimetres (my grandparents, however, used feet, pounds etc)
Hi there.

Isn't a Cricket pitch (the distance between the two sets of stumps - those tiny little 3 poles of wood with something on top of them to keep them balanced -- Bails ??? )

- still called a the Wicket even though when a Human batsman is out thast's still called "A Wicket") ) still measured as 1 Chain (22 yards or around 21 Metres).

Screenshot_20220114_170424.png

!!! I suppose with 10 Ball overs etc even Cricket is going Metric !!!! -- Mind you to Non Brits / non Commonwealth countries the Rules, legends and mysteries of Cricket would make even the old Masonic rituals open by comparison. !!

I think though this is one game where "Aussies" from the other end of the planet have certainly been able to "Spank their original tutors" !!! also those in South Africa seem to be pretty good at it too, and possibly those in India as well. (We even have a couple of Cricket teams in Iceland) -- not sure how Indians would enjoy playing on a pitch covered with Ice -- might be great to hold a Test Series here !!!!!

Anyway to the other end of the planet (at least at my end around 9500KM from 'OZ) -- Happy Burns night on Jan 27 with ' Sheeps bellies (Think that's called in Scotland -- Haggis) , 'Neeps and Tatties" and of course the "Real Amber Nectar".

Cheers
jimbo

I think it is smallest unit first D biggest last Y
Don't you use miles instead of kilometres? :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Simply because cost of changing every road sign was far too costly.

Visualising weight in stones is easier. For reference 1 stone is size of a large XMAS turkey. So if 3 stone overweight, imagine 3 large turkeys strapped to your body and impact on body!

Worked fine in Republic of Ireland (although in some parts distance is still measured by Time !!)

Just think of all those extra jobs that would be created -- sign writers, painters, metal workers, surveyors etc -- much better than a load of overpaid civil servants doing totally unproductive jobs like dealing with all that unnecessary customs paperwork caused by Brexit and adding zillions to small business costs.

I'm sure there's a huge amount of current money wasted by local councils particularly in England -- on a recent visit to a City in the East Riding of Yorkshire they even had an "Urban Forrestry Officer" at some humungous salary -- or is that the new English "Climate Extinction Group" name for a standard Park keeper. !!

Bigger problem would be if UK / ROI decided to change to drive on Right hand side of road -- just as starters think of bus entrances etc that would have to be changed.

Cheers

Well not just the UK .. but still I don't get the logic there.

In the UK they still use Horsepower as opposed to Nm.. . so lets not throw stones...

As an aside - Dates have always been a problem for junior programmers - it's a lot easier now with .Net formatting but yep - it should be standardised to dd/MM/YYYY
Another simple way which works anywhere using the current "Gregorian Calendar" however they define the date.

Start with number of days from a known starting date -- For a lot of apps these days Jan 1 2000 is a good start date

Then simply from something like transcribe( get_date(z)) = $text.
Your get_date(z) should return the number of days since Jan 1 2000 -- plenty of macros out there to do that. Then easy to strip that into MMYYDD or whatever you want via your transform code and then write to your cell. Simple EXCEL VBASIC macro should work.

Saves messing about changing region / options when designing EXCEL sheets for different jurisdictions.

Another interesting way is to use the Lilian Date and reverse engineer IBM's code :

Have fun !!!!
