Hi folks
Seems that VLC (usually a really excellent free multi-media player and server) doesn't play video properly on m2ts files == audio is OK - and you get the initial screen - but no video going onwards. The old Windows Media player has no probs.
Probably the only time since I started using computers have I ever thought a Windows product could be better than a decently written 3rd party product -- especially such a normally excellent one as VLC. -- Changing the file type to m4xxx with Handbrake (that's a pain to use but OK and takes a while makes the file again playable by vlc.
Not sure what VLC's problem is with m2ts files - but it plays pretty well other video / audio codec on the planet without issue - even long obsolete ones.
Cheers

Just a comment, I don't have a file to test with but the list of Video files VLC can use lists the .m2ts format in Version 19 and also in the upgrade to Version 20.
I have no problem playing .m2ts files here with VLC 3.0.20 portable. I have a number of test files with various minor issues and VLC will play all of them without issue.
I also have an LG Chess 4K Demo.m2ts file that stutters (dropped frames) in Windows Media Player Legacy, but plays perfectly in VLC and the new Media Player in Windows 11.
