Could be Macrium doesn't seen the USB-connected drive, is it using USB 2 or USB 3? Is it self-powered? Is it a pocketable drive or the larger one?

Hi there
1) reboot Stand alone macrium WITHOUT the drive plugged in
2) plug the device in
3) wait a few moments
4) use the Command mode to list the disks (cmd Diskpart -> List Disk )
5) if drive is shown without a letter type select disk xxx -> assign then Macrium will see it
6) if drive is shown OK then just start macrium for your restore
7) if drive not shown then remove to another USB port and retry
8) if drive still not shown then get into BIOS on MOBO and check the HDD's --if still not shown drive probably defective -- try on another system if possible.

Cheers
jimbo

Jimbo45 thank you for the great step by step. I have an older HP AIO and in the min. req. they say at least 2cores x64 secure boot t?2.0 and I have all of that but I had joined the club and was allowed to install windows 11 from a usb stick. everything went well. seemed as responsive as 10 and then I was going to use Macrium to restore files and folders. nothing I tried seemed to work. I will try installing 11 again and see it it will go well
Thank You

Jimbo45 I know the drive is OK as I re installed 10 clean and did a restore of my last image and all is well.
I created a usb per Shawn's instructions. was not comfortable with the GPT area in Rufus under partition scheme. did the shut off of secure boot everything went fine. Turned back on secure boot first thing when it was up and running.

The Macrium USB you made on Windows 10 may not have the right driver. You'll need to make a new one for Windows 11, or else use Macrium's own tutorial on how to add additional drivers to your USB drive to use in a different computer (although, in this case, the computer is the same, the Operating System, aka OS, is different, and thus could be using different drivers that Macrium needs to see the drive).

See Updating rescue media to include additional hardware drivers - KnowledgeBase - Macrium Reflect Knowledgebase for more information.
