Can't get legacy data from MsQuery into Excel on Office/365

Hi folks
Trying to sort out a colleague's Office/365 problem -- issue is unable to extract data from a remote Mariadb (MySQL type) database into EXCEL -- works fine in Office 2021 (and 2024).

Using the test "Employees" database - freely downloadable and using the community ODBC sources driver no probs at all - you have to in EXCEL options in data sources tick the legacy wizards e.g Microsoft Query etc it works perfectly -- can't find or get anywhere with Office/365. Any Guru's out there.
