OS
Windows 11
I ran Windows Update yesterday and was able to install a few updates, but this one is causing major headaches. I tried various things suggested by chatgpt, such as starting/stop different services, rebooting. running the following command, downloading the .msu file for my version of Windows and CPU, running scannow, etc. Nothing is getting me past 8% download. At that point, it aborts.

DISM /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:"C:\Users\<your-username>\Downloads\windows11.0-kb5077181-x64_33d38563662e659ceb84fb8b65aa05ce5876f5a4.msu"

Windows 11 Pro
version 10.0.26200 Build 26200
x64 CPU (12th Gen Intel i5)
MSI mobo
32 GB DDR4 RAM

Has anyone had success installing this update?? If so, how were you able to install it? I'm wondering if I should just wait a couple of weeks to see if Microsoft figures this out and fixed the problem. I'd bet money it's not just me having the problem.

WINDOWS UPDATE PROBLEMS things to try

1
. Run troubleshooter-settings-system-troubleshoot-other troubleshooters-windows update-RUN.

2. Reset Windows update using Brink's tutorial Reset Windows Update in Windows 11 Tutorial

3. Open command prompt as administrator. Enter this command.
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
When complete, Restart computer

Then open command prompt as admin again and run sfc /scannow
Pay attention to the scan results to see if SFC found anything it could not repair

4. CLEAN UP COMPONENT STORE - dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup
Analyze and Clean Up Component Store (WinSxS folder) in Windows 11 Tutorial

5. Do a repair install. This usually works when nothing else will. Repair Install Windows 11 with an In-place Upgrade Tutorial

I tried twice to install this update. Both times the PC restarted twice and on the last restart it undid the update and rebooted. Both unsuccessful installs took well over 30 minutes each. SFC and DISM were completed without errors. I consider myself luck that I didn’t get stuck in a boot loop like some users have. Something is definitely wrong with this update and my advice is that unless you have an image that you can restore, you should avoid this update until MS fixes it.

I've reached that point. There's definitely something wrong and I'm tired of trying to fix their problem. I'll try again in a month :)

Installed fine here. May help to fill in motherboard, CPU, GPU, etc. specs. Maybe there is an issue with certain hardware?

I'm glad I didn't read all the bad press about the update before installing it! :lmao: FWIW, it did need a DISM fix after installation, first one in a few updates that I had to do that again.
