Cant seem to d/l music and/or playlists from spotify to my laptop

Hi all

I am logged in to Spotify, and have created a playlist. I am trying to d/l the playlist (technically the music that is in the playlist) to my W11 laptop. I see other sites that give instructions, like tap the gray down arrow, or tap the three ellipsis buttons, etc., but I dont see any of these things.

Any ideas?

Probably can't help but I create Playlists in Windows Media Player based upon the song files I have in the Player, literally just a list of those. Those songs are already on my computer, may have been downloads but mostly Ripped from CD.

So, according to that ^ link, without premium, I can't d/l songs - only podcasts. Which toally works, b/c podcasts is what I am looking to d/l.

The instructions say:

  1. When you’re online, go to the playlist you want to download.
    Note: You can’t download individual songs, but you can put them in a playlist and download the playlist.
  2. Click on the download button (pic)

From what I understand, you can only download playlists from spotify onto the device that has the app. They stay in the app and are not transferable to other devices. Meaning you can’t put them on a USB and move them to your laptop.
Spotify is in the business of renting you music for as long as you’re subscribed, not selling it.
Why you’re having trouble, I don’t know. I’m waiting for a friend who uses it to call me back.

I can confirm that I have Download buttons on desktop, but I have a Premium account.

It may very well be that it is up to the Podcast maker if they chosse to allow free downloads for the free community. Not sure.

My friend called me back, but they also have a premium account and can download podcasts. They don’t have any idea about free accounts. I’ll download Spotify and see what I can get.

I went into Spotify as a free user.
I added two podcasts to my library

Opened “Your Library” and went to “Your Episodes”

There is a download button on the episodes.

And there seems to be an option in that last image to setup auto downloads which may be helpful?

My friend called me back, but they also have a premium account and can download podcasts. They don’t have any idea about free accounts. I’ll download Spotify and see what I can get.

So maybe the issue here is a) you have to be a premium member to see that d/l button, or b) the owner of the podcasts have disabled d/ls

OK. I clicked that link and the first thing that showed in my Spotify “APP” was this page. Complete with download buttons. There is also a BELL at the top of the page that allows me to select “Automatically download episodes”

I, for the life of me can’t understand why you can’t see a download icon (Circle with the arrow pointing down) on each episode. Again, I am a free user with an account only, I don’t pay for premium.

I think it’s definitely worth joining their forum and making post.

I’m looking around. Is the app updated?

- Is it a windows app from the store, check for updates. See if there is an option in the app.
- A fix for some has been removing the app and then reinstalling it, logging into your user account again in the app. (It’s on my iPad not PC)

I might try loading the windows app on my PC shortly.
