Apps Change Color of Sticky Notes in Windows 11

This tutorial will show you how to change the color of sticky notes for your account in Windows 10 and Windows 11.

The Microsoft Sticky Notes app is the simple way to quickly save something for later, so you can stay in the flow. With Sticky Notes, you can create notes, type, ink or add a picture, add text formatting, stick them to the desktop, move them around there freely, close them to the Notes list, and sync them across devices and apps like OneNote Mobile, Microsoft Launcher for Android, and Outlook for Windows.

You select to have your sticky notes use a Light, Dark, or Use my Windows mode color mode. The color mode changes the background and font colors of the note and the note list to either light or dark, but not the note header.

You can also select a color from the note header you want for each sticky note.

If you are signed in to Sticky Notes with your Microsoft account, the color change will sync across your devices and on the web.

1 Open the Sticky Notes app. (see screenshot below)


2 Click/tap on the Settings (gear) button in Sticky Notes Notes list. (see screenshot below)

If only a single note is displayed instead of the Notes list, then click/tap on the Menu (3 dots) button on the note, and click/tap on Notes list.

3 Under Color, select (dot) Light, Dark, or Use my Windows mode (default) for what you want. (see screenshot below)






1 Open the Sticky Notes app. (see screenshot below)


2 Perform one of the following actions: (see screenshot below)

• To change the color of a new sticky note, create a new sticky note (Ctrl+N).
• Double click/tap on a sticky note on the notes list you want to change the color of.

3 Click/tap on the Menu (3 dots) button on the sticky note. (see screenshots below)


4 Select (check) the color you want in the note header for this sticky note. (see screenshots below)

You must be signed in to Sticky Notes to see your notes and their color synced to the cloud (web).

1 Go to the Sticky Notes website, and sign in if not already.

2 Perform one of the following actions: (see screenshots below)

• Click/tap on Notes in the left pane, select the sticky note you want to delete in the middle pane, click/tap on Color on the menu bar, and select (check) the color you want.
• Click/tap on Notes in the left pane, select the sticky note you want to delete in the middle pane, click/tap on the Menu (3 dots) button on the sticky note in the right pane, click/tap on Change color, and select (check) the color you want.
