Accessibility Change Mouse Keys Acceleration in Windows 11

This tutorial will show you how to change how quickly the pointer starts and stops when using mouse keys for your account in Windows 11.

Mouse Keys lets you use the numeric keypad on your keyboard—instead of the mouse—to move the pointer.

Option One

Change Mouse Keys Acceleration in Settings


1 Open Settings (Win+I).

2 Click/tap on Accessibility on the left side, and click/tap on Mouse on the right side. (see screenshot below)

3 Adjust the Mouse keys acceleration slider to the speed level you want. (see screenshot below)

The default acceleration setting is 51.

The Mouse keys acceleration setting will be grayed out if Mouse keys is turned off.

4 You can now close Settings if you like.




Option Two

Change Mouse Keys Acceleration in Control Panel


1 Open the Control Panel (icons view), and click/tap on the Ease of Access Center icon.

2 Click/tap on the Make the mouse easier to use link. (see screenshot below)

3 Click/tap on the Set up Mouse Keys link under "Control the mouse with the keyboard". (see screenshot below)

4 Adjust the Acceleration slider to the level you want, and click/tap on OK. (see screenshot below)

5 Click/tap on OK. (see screenshot below)

6 You can now close the Ease of Access Center if you like.




Option Three

Change Mouse Keys Acceleration in Registry Editor


1 Open Registry Editor (regedit.exe).

2 Navigate to the key below in the left pane of Registry Editor. (see screenshot below step 3)

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Accessibility\MouseKeys

3 In the right pane of the MouseKeys key, double click/tap on the TimeToMaximumSpeed string value (REG_SZ) in the right pane to modify it. (see screenshot below)

4 Enter a value data between 1000 (faster) to 5000 (slower) for the acceleration you want, and click/tap on OK. (see screenshot below)

The default value data setting is 3000.

5 Close Registry Editor.

6 Either sign out and sign in or restart the computer to apply.
