Since this is the DIY Builds and Motherboards section I thought I would share here. If there is a more appropriate place to post this please inform me and I will comply.

Recently a dear friend of mine passed and I inherited a great deal of PC BUILDER materials, PCs, laptops, electronic components, tools, hard drives, silicon of all sorts, and the list goes on. Some here have asked me to post pictures but there is so much stuff that I thought I would start a thread to feature it. I am by no means attempting to sell any of it but some of the things are a bit of a curiosity and frankly, I don't even know what many of these devices are specifically.

Jim was a PC builder. He was also an IT. He dabbled in forensics and data recovery. He was keen on RC vehicles and had several hobbies. He was very big on Physics. We were friends, well, in a way more like brothers. He was the brother I never had. I miss him dearly. He was the one who inspired me to start building my own PCs about 27 years ago. The man was brilliant. When he passed it was decided that the computer end of his belongings went to me. Apparently Jim talked about me a lot and the people who tended to him decided this was best.

Well now my life is a little topsy-turvy with all this newly acquired stuff (some of it quite ancient) and I'm trying to sort it all out. Perhaps some here will be able to help me identify some of it. Perhaps some might give me a better idea what to do with some of it. My entire basement is full of tech now. I'm literally wading through the stuff. I'm hoping this thread might be both educational and informative. Jim got me and he got me good. I sometimes envision him with the angels laughing at me while I sort through all of this.

Windows Build/Version
I seriously have too many builds and versions to list here.

Gave Dell touch screen with Windows 11 to daughter and got me an OTVOC. Being a PC builder I own many desktop PCs as well. I am a father of five providing PCs, laptops, and tablets for all my family, most of which I have modified, rebuilt, or simply built from scratch. I do not own a cell phone, never have, never will.
So I guess I'll begin with what appears to be Jim's gaming PC. He was a big fan of MineCraft.

My photography skills leave much to be desired. This is a Thermal Core X71 and it is huge. It's also quite heavy and it is at least as tall as my own ThermalTake Level10 GT. I'm going to have a swell time getting it down the stairs. Alas, I'm not a hard core gamer so I'm not really sure what to do with it.

Yes, I know I've stated many times DDR4 is good enough for me. How was I to know that I would be inheriting over 128GB of DDR5 RAM? I'll likely be giving this unit to my daughter as it would get the most use with her.

I tossed in an SSD with X-Lite just to see what I had going on in the way of storage and devices. I know Jim was saving up for a beast of a graphics card but I guess he never got it. That aside, a stick of 4TB NVMe and a 20TB hard drive isn't anything to sneeze at.

Inheriting a small pile of DDR5 is like inheriting Bitcoin nowadays.

Sorry for the loss of your good friend...

Yup. I know precisely what you're saying. Plus she doesn't need a 20TB hard drive either. That one will probably wind up in the family server. I'll let her keep the 4TB NVMe and will likely pop in a few extra drives as well. She might also benefit from a better GFX card. I think I have one of those kicking around too.
