Chrome Browser has been having update issue for some time.

Chrome browser on Windows 11 Pro build 26200.5651 has not been updating, even manually, for some time.

Current Chrome browser version published over the internet is:

My Chrome browser version is:

When I check Event Viewer, I get two errors: Event 7000 and Event 7009

Is anyone else here experiencing the same problem or is it just me ?

Does anyone have a solution to eliminate this updating problem ?

Thanks a lot for letting me know that my Chrome is up to date. That's a load off. When I saw the error messages in Eventviewer, I thought something was not going well. Have a nice day.

Right now, version 138 has been released to early stable, so a tiny fraction of users are getting it. It will be released to everyone on the 24th.

@pseymour Thanks for the timetable of Google Chrome release dates. It's very much appreciated.

Still, it is a mystery why Eventviewer gives error messages about Google Update services not being able to start or connection timeouts.

@suatcini54 Can you manually start the Google Update Service after the device has been booted up for a few minutes?
When I open Services console, there are just three Google services. Two of the services are on automatic but not running:

When I try to Start the update service manually, Google services become five in number:

But gupdate service, which shows up after I try to run a Google updater service, still does not run. Though, it comes on automatic (triggered).

Please note this Windows 11 Pro (build 26200.5651) has been updated many many times since 2019 starting with Windows 10 Pro. Somethings may be off track, though I seem to have no problems running the OS. It runs perfectly on partly- compatible hardware.

I don't use Chrome, so maybe someone who does will chime in. I just checked a random work PC, and Chrome is up to date. I did the same as you and started the Chrome update service. It started, then immediately stopped. I suspect this is what it does when the browser is up to date, as there is no work to be done. So that part seems normal.

However, when I did that, I did not get the event log errors that you get, so maybe something is wrong there. Have you done a repair installation on Chrome?

I did no repair install because Chrome is running well. One more thing: When I try to start gupdater service manually, I get an error message:

Error 1053: Service did not respond to periodic start or audit request (or something like that).
