Hello everyone. My question is, if I make a separate partion to dual boot Windows 10 and Windows 11 is that a considered a clean install or should I just wipe my drive and install Window 10? I like to bench with 3DMark and I'd like to see if I get better performance on W10. Thank you

The naming is self-explanatory "Clean Install" - which is basically freshly Windows installed (be it 1st time or reset) - with 0 modifications to Windows files or settings. I think what you mean is a Dual Boot. There's tons of step by step guides on YT such as:

You can install it as dual boot to an unallocated partition as a clean install.

I seriously doubt you will get an significant performance difference between W10 and W11.

If you create a separate partition and install Windows from scratch, that is a clean install (on that partition).

On most hardware you will NOT get better performance with Windows 10, if you have properly installed and set up Windows 11.

I say "properly installed and set up", because as a working PC tech I've seen more bad setups than you can imagine.
Some setups were so bad that the PC could hardly run.

I'm running Windows 11/Pro/64 (full version) right now, and the way that I set up Windows, this is the fastest Windows I've ever run as my every day OS.

However, There are newer versions of Windows 11, that are even faster, and more efficient, without all the Bloatware that MS installs in their Windows. I have the latest one of those, installed on a separate SSD, on this very PC. However I have not made it my Everyday OS, yet. Maybe, one day soon. It is really FAST!!! (and it installs in about 30 minutes, all by itself)

Cheers Mates,
TM
